Don't these kinds of deals take ages to complete?

Since IAG are only just talking about considering a bid for Norwegian, what's the likelihood of any deal completing by the end of the summer? And then, even if a deal had gone through, your particular flight being affected?

Any flight that you book is subject to potential change in terms of timings etc anyway.

Whatever happens with a buyout, no.

That's a bit ambiguous

Are you saying that whatever happens with a buyout, Lion should not buy a flight, or that Lion will not be left stranded?

Lion will not be left stranded in the event of an IAG buyout.

Well we tried, turns out Norwegian aren't worth the low fares. After them rescheduling flights by 6 hours both ways they were late both ways. Cabin crew have the personality of a rock and they seem to work on the Victorian principle of don't speak unless you are spoken to. Food was probably the worst I've ever experienced, tea or coffee is served in a dish approximately 2 inches high by 3 inches across (like a cut off paper cup)
Honestly a terrible experience right down to the baggage taking over an hour to appear at both Gatwick and Chicago.

Lesson learned, you get what you pay for

Baggage taking time to get to baggage claim isn't always the airlines fault, sometimes its the airport and their lack of sufficient carousels available on the ramp side.

At the airport I work at the airport assigns flights a carousel to use, sometimes at peak times there is a wait ramp side, one day last summer I had to wait 2 hours because the carousel was not working and the airport would not assign us a new one.

Of course passengers blame the airline when reality was it was the airport that was causing the long wait.

I think the key point in your post is the last sentence - they don't claim to be an airline offering the 1960's cocktail suite lifestyle, they are a Ryanair style outfit who offer transatlantic flights on the same model. Ideally you should all have to run to grab a seat at boarding to get the real experience.

We used them, but upgraded to the Premium Economy section - which as it happens is the same price as a Virgin or BA but has a bigger seat pitch by a good 8 inches. We knew not to expect the silver service (food comes in a cardboard box), but that leg room was worth it. I would not use their economy unless prices was my single biggest concern, in which case you know what to expect!

Also took 2 Ryan Air flights this holiday, both were on time, crew were young, upbeat and fun, short flights so no need for food or beverage service. What a difference when you have a crew (including ground crew) who will answer questions only if forced, seem to have no problem chatting among themselves but look sullen and angry when presented with a paying customer.

In particular on our outward journey we had seats next to the mid escape door, the crew member there had the resting bitch-face from hell and was so short her little legs dangled from the jumpseat. I tried smiling at her and she looked away tugged at her red leather gloves (they put them on for take off and landing) and adjusted her rather short skirt. Saw her twice more on that flight ... personality of a brick !

Last year I flew with United, Delta, Virgin and even Spirit and never came across such a miserable bunch as the Norwegian crew.

For short haul LCCs being on time is absolutely vital, almost a religion. That constraint (discipline) doesn't apply equally to long haul.
