Cool American Cars

I must admit, I love American cars!

I have a Chevy Silverado pick up, and I'm thinking of getting one of those Lincoln Town Cars or a Cadillac.

What does everyone drive in the forums? Likes or dislikes plz!!

P. S. Roland...saw your website, fantastic motors you have there, mate!

Every one we ever had died a long, painful expensive death on us from the minute they left the forecourt.

So since 1988 we've been an all-Honda/Acura family (well until Toon joined us and bought an older but stylish Merc).

PS like hiring a Ford Focus for driving around Europe, though. Will seriously think of getting a Smart Car now that they're launching here.

I don't know why but my DH casts admiring glances at Caddies, Lincolns, Grand Marquis and Crown Vics. When he first arrived here he thought that Intrepids were the bees knees.

I'm a big Subaru fan. We have the Outback as the family car, but my commuting car is still my little Mazda that I bought way back when I was only going to be here a couple of years - now I feel I have to keep it until it dies because it's not worth anything but when it does finally die (or a year or two from now depending on what happens first) I'm seriously considering the Subaru WRX.

Have to admit I loved my Chevy Avalance, it was the perfect SUV/truck because it could be both...

Unfortunately we traded it in for the new tahoe, don't get me wrong the new tahoe is lovely....but I still remember the Avalance with great fondness..

I drive a 2004 Chevrolet S-10 Crew Cab V-6, with Four Wheel Drive, whilst my wife drives a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am, with the V-6.

We haven't had any maintainance issues with them at all. It is my second S-10.

One of my colleagues has a Dodge Charger R/T, with a Hemi. Now that is a lot of fun to drive Would like to consider a Magnum Station Wagon, also with a Hemi, for my next vehicle.

I will never own a vehicle originating from Asia, especially from Japan.

Jim.

Obvously I am biased but my personal ride is a dark red 2006 Crown Victoria LX Sport with cold air intake and Flowmasters. Looks just like an unmarked Police Cruiser. It's not your Grandad's Vic.

I get 32mpg at 40mph, 28mpg at 50mph and 24mpg at 80mph in total comfort.

It also goes off like a scalded cat when you ask it to.

My wife leases a Mustang V6 convertible, which she loves.

Aw, thanks! I'm an unashamed fan of American motors. I love 'em!

I know my Lincoln Town Car is a twenty year old POS, but it's lovely to drive. I really like the stability and power of a rear wheel drive car with a heavy, well balanced body and engine with lots of lazy grumph.

I don't think grumph is a real word.

Plus they just go on FOREVER. As long as you keep filling them with petrol every 220 miles. And there's tons of space and all the practical bits you need - AND loads of luxury like AC and power EVERYTHING.

I'm lusting for a second hand police cruiser. My mate's 2002 Crown Vic can do 130 at the drop of a hat and because it looks like an unmarked cruiser, everybody gets out of your way.

I had no idea the fuel consumption was so good.

The Police Interceptor has a 3.27 axle as standard. There is an option for 3.55 limited slip which drops the top speed from 129mph to 119mph and makes quite a difference to the acceleration.

The Interceptor has 250bhp and 297 lbs/ft of torque as standard.
The LX Sport has 239 bhp and 276 lbs/ft of torque.
