Aged Parent in US ?
Here is one solution. I cannot approve of this way of coping. A reflection on a broken system ? Or no system at all ?

It isn't till you read to near the end that you find that, firstly, the family actually aren't that poor and the son seems to have done this because he's a complete sociopath, and secondly, the LAPD have chosen not to charge him, despite him being the main person responsible.

This is a very sad story & I’ve been following it since it was first reported on. What a pity the man couldn’t have been allowed to stay in his nursing home in England, where he was well-liked, happy, and treated with respect by staff. I do understand why he had to be repatriated when his identity was confirmed, though. Further, it seems tough that the only person punished has been the British man who helped the family - clearly he has his own mental health issues. Don’t quite see why he got a significant custodial sentence.
