Advice needed from the decorators out there ...

Hi all,

I don't know if anyone has ever tried to buy outdoor furniture that's not part of a set ... but it's HARD! I'm busy furnishing a little screened in porch we just had finished, and am having a heck of a time finding a little table to go with some chairs I found and would really like to get.

I'd like to do a mix of materials. So far, here's what lives in the room:

1 small orange tree in apple green pot
1 hanging Boston fern
1 wrought iron long standing basket filled with herbs.

The screened in porch has one wall that's brick (the side of the house), stone pillars in warm tones, sandy framework and some white lattice built into the frames at the bottom. We installed a tile floor with a neutral stone-like feel.

I've ordered a loveseat (see pic, only apple green seats) that will go in one end of the room. I'd like to add a little bistro table with two chairs. It's my own little French cafe you see. :)

Any thoughts on what kind of a table would work? It would have to be about 30" or so, I don't want things to get crowded. If anyone has ideas I'd be grateful ... I've looked all over the web and am stumped.

Cheers!
Kaffy

how about something like this?? (didn't check the size so it might be too big)

My first thought was a wrought iron table....I sometimes see them on my trips to TJ Maxx.

Ironically, my thought as well. I like the ones I've seen in both Home Goods and Pier One that are black wrought iron with tile insert tops. Bring a little color into your room what with the brick. Also shop around in second hand stores or on freecycle or craigslist.

Something like that isn't a bad option as it would tie things together. That particular one is too big but others could work. TJ Maxx is one of the few places I haven't checked - that might be an idea!

Other ideas are (pics to give an idea ...):
wooden table (teak pictured)
white mosaic
metal

That's the problem - I have expensive taste apparently! ;) I'm also trying to find one big enough to accomodate coffees or a light meal, without being overwhelming in size. That leaves me in the 27"-32" diameter range.

Thanks for looking it up!!

I hope so! He puts me to shame when it comes to clothes shopping - I can't stand it myself. ;)

Garage sales, Goodwill and/or The Salvation Army.

I don't know how it is anywhere else but the Dallas Salvation Army store is full of treasures that are constantly changing.

I vote to start stalking craigslist immediately and check every day, and also go to Homegoods. I find a lot of cute furniture stuff in there. That I have no room for.

Remember, you have to decorate to my taste if we're going to swap. I painted the exterior here for you all weekend. :)

Lowes have very cute little bistro tables too, with bright coloured cushions...not bad prices.

Just got back from Target..nice smallish tables in their "sale" (going on through Saturday)
Also Marshall's had a couple of really cute tables with matching chairs :)
