Of course not. But the voters aren't interested in any of them.

I think the handicap of this candidate's name is grossly underrated. I once saw his name given as Buttplug, and now I read it as that every time it appears. So if I were a voter I could never in a million years vote for him. Sadly...

As opposed to Obama that sounded like (the very much alive at the time) Osama B-L?

Honestly, the things we choose to care about

Interesting article on the need for the Dem VP to be a PoC.
He leaves behind an increasingly white field of candidates. The last presidential debate, in December, included only one person of color, tech executive Andrew Yang. So far, Joe Biden, Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, Tom Steyer, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren — all white — have qualified for Tuesday’s debate in Des Moines. Of the black candidates who entered the race, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker dropped out of the race Monday, and former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, has struggled to gain traction. Tulsi Gabbard, who is Samoan American, likewise didn’t make the cut. Neither did Yang.

The Democratic Party is about 40% people of color, but its top tier presidential candidates are 100% white.

A diverse party needs diverse representation. The best way to ensure that for the future is for the eventual 2020 Democratic presidential candidate to choose a person of color for his or her vice president. Although it may not seem crucial, the VP slot can have a huge effect on the fate and the future of the party. Democrats should start using it specifically to elevate nonwhite politicians and party leaders.

It is intriguing predicament, how would they go about just allowing a PoC to be considered? I must admit I do not know the Party rules on such issues.

I don’t think there are any “rules” involved. That LA Times opinion piece just seems to be encouraging the eventual candidate, if white, to select a person of color as their running mate. Seems sensible.

I doubt there are "rules" per se, but apparently McCain came under huge pressure from the Republican National Party to select Palin.

Redneck isn't a race.
edited to clarify, red is a colour, but a redneck doesn't mean a person of colour... got that?

Not only was Obama similar to Osama, but his middle name gave great pleasure to his opponents. You could hear them gleefully stressing it ... "Barack HUSSEIN Obama" ...

I still find it mind-bogglingly awesome that we actually elected a black man called Barack Hussein Obama! Almost as mind-bogglingly depressing that we then elected ... you know who ...

Just following the Hollywood trend that you must have a person of color in any movie. White cop, black partner or vice versa. There's been some blow back concerning the new move "1917' since there are no black soldiers. Someone has come up with the idea to re--edit the movie to include a fictitious platoon of black troops of the Kings African Rifles amongst the British, French and German combatants

Hollywood has been on a downward spiral ever since they stopped doing documentaries only, and went all fake with fiction! I have seen "1917" and I have fact checked every single shot, every character was in the exact position depicted, it was shot at the right time of year and day so that lighting was exactly as it was, in fact the film was postponed 5 years in a row because the weather wasn't right. There is not one single extra character added for dramatic affect or story flow, not a single word or even intonation adjusted. Only original uniforms were used. In fact they dug up the original soldiers and controlled them with animatroics to ensure that no fake actors with their 2019 extra height and portliness would ruin the authenticity.

Selecting this way is no different than selecting based on the home state of the VP with the hopes of encouraging votes from the area where the state is. Or selecting based on a religious demographic as was the case with Palin and Pence. I mean, do you think either of those was selected for their actual abilities??

. But looking back in history Harry Truman turned out to be one of the better Presidents even though as a VP he was far from being impressive. So you never know

I think you've confused "1917" with that other WW One movie "Zombie killer skeletons vs the dead Huns from Hell" It's on sale for $9.99 at Target
