Re: 2020 Election
Maybe Presidential candidates represent the better educated and therefore more successful in private life. Harry Truman was probably the only modern President who came from humble beginnings, never made much money during his Presidency and left office with very little in his pocket

This basically is why now Trump is where he is.

Now you have changed your argument. You are saying that money is necessary after all.
Which is it?
Did you understand my post about "necessary but not sufficient condition"?

If only there were some way to democratize fund raising. Some way to prevent situations where only those with huge personal bank accounts are able to get their word out. A committee of some sort to drive political action.

Well we will know more next week but maybe Bernie with large numbers of small donations can beat the norm.

I don't know if I'd describe him as moderate, or extreme. He doesn't really stand for anything. That's one of things I find most troubling. It's not like he has well though out political positions or convictions, he'll just say or do whatever it takes to feed his ego and keep power. It sounds crazy, but as much as I despise the likes of Ted Cruz and the Christian right, I at least believe that they mean what they say. I don't think Trump actually stands for anything, and it's utterly absurd that such a large portion of the population believe that a narcissistic trust fund kid has their best interests at heart.

I'm not talking about votes per so, i.e. people who held their nose and voted for him, or just couldn't bring themselves to vote for Hilary, I'm talking about the fact that there are millions of people that enthusiastically support him and believe he is best suited to be president. It's absolutely mind boggling.

Re: 2020 Election
Well, yeah, but I don't believe that all positions are equal. Being an enthusiastic Bloomberg or Biden supporter is certainly odd, and the democratic field is certainly uninspiring, but it's at least understandable that someone might support one of them, or in past elections, that someone would enthusiastically support pretty much any of the Republican candidates. I'm saying, it's different this time, and I can't believe it doesn't transcend party politics at this point. It's utterly insane that a grown adult could continue to support Trump, regardless of party membership. I don't believe in this 'both sides, all politicians are the same' nonsense. I have nothing but contempt for anyone who can continue to support him.
