On the subject of Air Force One, the CEO of Boeing said some critical comments about Trump's trade policies, then suddenly Trump is all for cancelling AF1.

It's all a storm in a tea-cup - there will be some sleight of hand with the budget figures, Trump will announce that he's forced Boeing to drop the price, nothing will have actually changed and all will carry on as before.

This is the new way of government for the next 4 years, we need to get used to the technique and tone down the outrage otherwise we're going to be exhausted, sorry YUUGELY TIRED.

Perhaps the president-elect could be flying alone when its time comes, or at least, the only one sans parachute . . . :sneaky:

So that would be 19th century then?

Ahhhh ...

Good one! However, that was merely my poor phrasing, I meant as up to date as the current fleets of commercial airliners operating in the US :D

I wouldn't think Boeing give a damn if AF One is built or not. They're too busy filling orders for the 787

In terms of their profits, it's not a big deal, but imagine the PR if Airbus got to build AF1.

Believe me..they care. It is a hugely prestigious contract.

I thought Airbus were ruled out because they weren't willing to set up a plant in the US just to build two A380s.

Well, Trump could easily renegotiate that requirement if Airbus could build it for half the price.

I'd love it if he tried that and Airbus told him to **** off.

They ruled out bidding. You can be certain Congress would never approve a foreign manufacturer producing AF1. the sucurity of the technology would be a concern...and largely..no one would want AF1 to be a flying advertisement for Airbus and the likely damage that could do to Boeings sales..

Trump would go to the Wright Brothers first before he'd go Airbus.
