British Expats - 2016 Election

Changing the system for the next time should be handled when the primaries are over. Arousing vile anger in your base accomplishes little more than creating an unhealthy and vile atmosphere in my opinion.

Ironically, it sounds like the GOP are more likely to change their primary system than the Dems.

You miss the point. It was never forbidden and the previous 5 Secretaries of State used private email servers. When something has been common practice for so long it is a bit daft to suddenly decide to take it out on one individual. Establish a rule that forbids it. Your comparison to bank robbers is ridiculous. Robbing banks is against the law. Her using a private email server was not.

That's bullshit! If you actually read the report it says that Clinton didn't ask, and if she had asked, then they wouldn't have given permission because of the security risks.

Also, the State Department made the guidance on email much more detailed in 2009 so the comparison to Powell is weak at best.

Even current federal law allows private email to be used. 36 CFR 1236.22:

Agencies that allow employees to send and receive official electronic mail messages using a system not operated by the agency must ensure that Federal records sent or received on such systems are preserved in the appropriate agency recordkeeping system.

Ultimately, this is a pissing contest over departmental policy. A department that was run by Hillary Clinton.
