Didn't understand it. Simply knew it existed.

In the US system, the federal government represents both the states and the people.

The US president represents the states and the people, not just the people.

There is a reason why the number of electoral votes is equal to the number of seats in Congress (plus three for DC.) The original thirteen states would have never agreed to ratify the constitution if this hadn't been the case, as the smaller states would not have tolerated always being dominated by the larger ones.

Incidentally, the European Parliament is apportioned in a similar fashion. Seats are not allocated based upon population because of the disadvantage that smaller countries would have otherwise.

As attention turns to overturning Citizens United - have to wonder how poster (#6570) imagines a Constitutional Amendment is made.

(best not ask )

Well duh ! Amendments have been added over time but have any Amendments ever been repealed other than the Amendment concerning Prohibition?

Maybe an Amendment stating that there's no such thing as melting pots but only smelting pots could be added

It's those same 'come and go politicians' (specifically, members of both Houses of Congress) who CAN 'meddle' (your word for it, not mine) with the Constitution.
They alone are vested with the power to amend that document.

Whats that got to do with your initial cock-eyed assertion? Any change to the document is an amendment - no matter the frequency with which it might or might not occur.

 Have you met me?

I've been reading some of the posts in this thread and agree with those who are feeling so disgusted and exhausted by this primary race. BUT (big but) it's pretty exciting to see Bernie get such a big win. I was even pleased, not quite uplifted, that Cruz gave Trump a thumping.

So is this the turning point where Trump's campaign starts to lose momentum?

We've been forecasting this since he got in almost a year ago, and he's defied all the naysayers.

God I hope so. I've said it before (said it was finally the end of Trump) and been wrongwrongwrong. It's also weird for me because I've been so anti-Cruz for so long, but I really want Trump to burn out and go away.

Incidentally, Trump press release tonight ... Oh. My. God.
