There are also some die-hard Republicans who are simply sick of the status quo who did like any of the republican candidates during the primary, and feel Trump is only one- regardless of risks of his personality- of either party who would bring change.

Where I live is strongly pro-Trump, especially among the poor and blue-collar workers. Today I had to drive on a country road for about 15 miles, 2 out of 3 houses had Trump signs. One Clinton sign ( " lock her up" with picture of Clinton in chains.) Then stopped in a city in nearby county, lots of Clinton bumper stickers.

I am just wondering how Clinton will govern when 35 to 40% of population strongly against her and/or her policies.

I realized that the overriding elephant in the room with Trump is his temperament. Forget what he said or did to women 10 years ago; forget about his taxes, his bankruptcies, his former positions on a multitude of issues. I think it is truly significant and overwhelmingly disqualifying that he cannot let anything 'go'. In all three debates, he has consistently taken the bait from Clinton and gone off the rails, and his reaction to the initial 'Miss Universe/Miss Piggy' situation demonstrates to us all we really need to know about him. How could we even consider giving him the nuclear codes, putting him in charge of the military, etc? I mean, seriously? This guy is surrounded by advisers doing everything they can to keep him out of trouble but he can't save himself.
I think that the way she was able to bait him was extremely telling. Those who still think that she isn't spectacularly talented are the type of people that could easily fall for her traps as well. Smooth doesn't even begin to describe it. The ability to make your opponent lose their mind without ever losing your own cool, that's rare. He's actually extremely weak willed, impulsive, reactive and, in many ways, pig stupid. He's like the trolls that come onto BE with some idea of how they're going to make everybody else look stupid and then end up having a complete existential breakdown when challenged by astute posters. Donald Trump is a troll and not even a good troll.

As far as the people that surround him, that goes to judgement as well. He keeps hiring thugs and gangsters and then firing them when HE shits the bed. This current group is abysmal. KellyAnne Conway is a 3rd rate right-wing guttersnipe yet she's been lauded as some conservative savant. No. She's been around for decades and has never done anything of import. Her whole career, up until now, has been a failed attempt at making herself relevant and trying to get her own face on TV. The fact that she's the most talented person he's ever hired says a lot more about Trump than it does about Conway. In all fairness to both of them, it's not like anybody decent would have taken the job.

I won't even delve into the whole Ailes, Bannon, Giuliani and Christie, circle jerk. Their craven behavior speaks for itself. As awful as they are, they're somewhat more talented than Trump, yet he doesn't even listen to them.

It also occurred to me that, superficial as it may sound, my original take on Trump was quite accurate ... anyone who can wear his hair like that can't possibly be taken seriously. Think about it ... any reasonable human being with eyes, a mirror, and some trusted friends would realize what a complete joke that 'thing' on his head is. But he manages to convince himself it makes him look good, and he then surrounds himself with people who can't or won't convince him otherwise. As superficial as a 'hairdo' is, it does seem to be part of a pattern! I guess the story of the "Emporer's New Clothes' is appropriate here ... I haven't actually read it for decades ... quite cute ... The Emperor's New Clothes .
I don't think this is superficial. If Hillary Clinton was wearing a beehive hairdo from the 60s or a frizzy perm and John Lennon glasses from the 70s, nobody would take her seriously. He's wearing his hair the same way he did when he was in his 20s. To me that is indicative of an individual who (1) never matured past youth (2) has no idea how foolish they look --- even when people are telling them CONSTANTLY (3) and a rigid individual who is incapable of accepting the passage of time and the changes in their own body. IOW he's a huge child.

I think it's a nice story that Republicans like to tell themselves in order to justify voting for a madman.

Good point. I can only speak for around here but there are three factors (a) I have never seen the animosity towards Obama that I see against Clinton. (b) So many are having a hard time and after eight years of Obama see her just as a continuation.

I have to say I was quite impressed with Clinton's performance at the dinner last night, Trump really should have toned things down.

Another woman came out with accusations of inappropriate behavior by Trump. Unfortunately she is a porn actress and I only say unfortunately because he will no doubt go off the rails trashing her.

This was sent to me by an American friend. I'm not sure where he found it - Zero Hedge, presumably.
This election, more than any other in modern history, has exposed the American "democracy" for the corrupt, pay-for-play, kleptocratic, corporatist-owned system that it truly is. The next few weeks will expose even more deviancy and criminality. Unfortunately, there are hundreds of millions of Americans who pay far more attention to Dancing With the Stars than there are who read Zero Hedge. So after the election, unless everyday working folks expose and fight against Deep State, all the lessons that could have been learned in this mud slinging battle, will be long forgotten, as the debt serfs slip even deeper into debt to the financial engineers and political wealth extractors.

I think Trump is right about one thing, at least: that this is Americans' last chance to remove the corruption that is smothering the nation and destroying its moral legacy. He is a patriot, not an empire-builder. He seems to care as much for foreign victims of the US war-makers as he does for domestic victims of the corruption. That doesn't sit well with the tribalists of all nationalities who feel duty-bound to despise their nations' designated enemies.

Trump and Pence have been on their knees at every fire hall and barn in South Central PA. Their Achilles heel there is a huge increase in Hispanic voters (Puerto Ricans from New York) over the past few years. It's the suburbs in DE Valley though that will call the election.

You've done it Gordon, you've changed my vote.

I can't wait to nuke Syria, reintroduce waterboarding, deport millions, invalidate free-trade deals, and fill Guantanamo with sexual assault victims.

Hacked emails revealed an internal disagreement among Clinton's aides about her desire to hold a conference in Marrakech, Morocco.
The country's king made a $12 million pledge to fund the Clinton Global Initiative conference - but only if the the likely presidential candidate attended.
Top confidante Huma Abedin bluntly wrote in a January 2015 email that 'if HRC was not part of it, meeting was a non-starter.'

More word salad.

I agree with what I think you are trying to say though. It is a shame that the Republican party put forward a pussy-grabbing, real estate swindler. It would have been nice to have had a real choice in this election.

I seriously doubt that Gordon, or his ilk, have ever actually listened to a word that Trump has ever said. You don't need the media --- just listen to Trump's own comments about Syria.
