Re: 2016 Election
It's probably worth saying that ISIS is truly getting hammered now. The Iraqi and Kurdish forces were pathetic, it took training them for many months to make them battle-ready. But now, ISIS are losing significant chunks of ground literally every minute. It's no longer a matter of if, but when they will lose all territory, and effectively, the caliphate.
And yes, just as America was finally regaining some respect in the world...

There isn't any sure way to stop these attacks If Trump thinks that banning people from countries where terrorism is a problem with the aim of preventing attacks here he's taking the simplistic view. Radicalization knows no borders

I would see Trump as quite possibly selling out eastern Europe to Putin in a "my turf, your turf " kind of deal

Extremism can never be eliminated. But eliminating the caliphate is a good start. It will certainly help establish more stability in Iraq and Syria.
Watching Trump's speech. So far, he's sticking to the script, although he's a much less effective speaker when reading from a teleprompter. No emotion. No details, but he just said America should have taken Iraqi oil. Brilliant.
And again, at a time when ISIS is clearly on its way out. Trump is suggesting a "war against Islam", which is exactly what Islamic extremists have been hoping for.
I think he's finished.

ISIS as you say will eventually be defeated on the ground but it will persist in the form of isolated terrorist attacks carried out either by lone individuals or small groups against what they perceive are soft targets here or in Europe.

I'd keep an eye on Turkey. Pivotal to things in the region right now. Spurned by the EU, failed coup followed by purges, overtures from Putin, Peshmerga/Kurds who have been very effective against ISIS not well liked by Turkey, could be all sorts of messy.

Minutes ago, after Trump speech:
Fix campaign or step aside, Wall Street Journal tells Trump
oh yeah, there's also this:

Trump just cant help himself. As fast he tries to perform damage control he'll just go on putting his foot in his mouth all the way up to November

Interesting.
In any other year I might be in favor of letting third parties into the debate. This time I'd rather let Trump get more of the spotlight.

And whose vote is he chasing with the latest anti-Muslim "extreme vetting" stupidity? The single remaining undecided racist who hasn't watched any TV for the last year?
