I was in HR with my boss a few weeks ago and the HR woman said 'I've come across some biscuits from England that I'm addicted to' and gets a packet out. My boss couldn't get over the fact that they are called 'Digestives'.
You can see her point, why would you name anything you eat that:huh:. Although I also used to laugh at the silly American words, after a few months I found it fascinating. Probably becuase I worked with some people who likewise found the English words fascinating, especially phrases we use, 'swings and roundabouts' took some explaining. I can't say spackle without laughing though:lol:, in fact i'm smurking just typing the word. However, as a fan of the books of Stephen Fry, I'd have been pissing myself at the point where it was said that they'd 'come across some biscuits from England . . .' :D (I know in this case it was a woman, but I'm a sufferer of double entendre disease.) |

I got congratulated today on 'the engagement'..........Total blank look from me before I had to ask who's, one of those Princes but he knew more than I did, like his name! :confused:
