Default Thailand dramatically increases visa/workpermit fees

Thailand has raised its residency fees by ujp to 400 %.

That means if you want to live here you could pay up to 5000 dollars US per year per adult and up to 2500 per year per kid under 20.

So much for Thailand's dream to become 'long-stay' and retirement destination. If you plan come here better plan on just staying a couple of months at a time.

You still can't own property, although you can buy a condo, but many of the condos are of poor construction quality so you could end up with a place you can't resell. (And Thais don't like to buy used condos anyway)

As for the health tourism (medical care is copmparably cheap to the West), three hospitals in Bangkok are good quality but in my view the jury is still out on the medical competency of the doctors and surgeons.

good luck
