expats in Cha-am

Hi guys
This is a long process but getting there. Was tossing up between Hau Hin and Cha-am but Cha-am is more to our lifestyle a bit quieter. I need to find out a couple of things.
1. What is the best way to get there from Bangkok.
2. We will be bringing our dog with us will this be a problem.
3. Can dogs live in condos/apartments.

We are Australian hubby and wife retiring 63 and 60. We are trevelling to Cha-am at christmas time to check out the area then coming back July for a month then all going well move in Sept.

Any advice you can give will be most appreciated.

Regards
Chris

If you're driving yourself you're probably best to head out on the 35 through Samut Sakhorn and Samut Songkhram until you get to highway 4(The Petkasem Road), and then down through Petchaburi and onto Cha-am. Should only take 2-3 hours depending on traffic and the speed you drive.
For public transport you could use the Southern Bus Terminal and get a bus from there, or alternatively you could get a minivan from Victory Monument. Easiest way if you're unsure about any of this would be to get a taxi. At a total guess I would say it would cost 1500-2000 baht. A lot of the taxis will have fixed prices to other cities in Thailand on a laminated piece of plastic on the back of one of the front seats so that will give you an idea.
As long as your dog has a pet passport shouldn't be a problem getting it into the country. As far as condos allowing the dog that would depend on them and you would have to ask around. Renting a house might be a better option for pets though. DDproperty Thailand is a good place to start looking.
