I'm more of the " what's the fuss about what someone who has led a life of favour purely on who their family is " variety.

Republic now !

Well I like the British Royal family. I think they do a good job (generally) and there's a lot of British history and heritage there. Brings in a lot of tourist dosh for the the UK

I'm a monarchist and it's one of the reasons I love Britain. I think the main players do a superb job. The lesser ones don't but they're not supposed to and in all honesty probably behave in exactly the same way as all previous 'minors' just that the media is reporting every single last thing 24/7 makes it more in your face.

You wouldn't understand how revered the Thai King is.

First off, where's the actual proof that it actually happened? As I quoted before, no royal protection officer would speak like that. Secondly, why is the Granddaughter of The King of Thailand considered more important than the Granddaughter of Her Majesty the Queen?

It's bullshit and as such, should be ignored.

Yes, who said you could come on here?

It sounds like a very silly story to me. Who knows if it's actually true and, in any case, it was supposed to be the security guard NOT p.Beatrice that tackled HM princess. Load of nonsense Media BS I reckon

Hi, I just thought I would pop in to say "Hi" as Goa has been moved to Far East and Asia Forum just to see what was going on.
Hope I am not going to be shot down in flames.

Google "Beatrice and the Thai Princess" actuality brings up one link - your post.

One spoilt toff insults another. (if it happened)

No member of a royal family deserves respect (not for that reason anyway),
certainly not because she is beautiful.
The respect the Thai royals get is I believe backed by the legal process, if it was truly deserved, this would not be the case.

I can not find the Telegraph story, I am starting to notice a pattern, story appears, someone makes a link, link goes dead, but story still active in third party sites. I am wondering if some stories get published, then fact checking starts and some stories get pulled as a result.

You get that quite a lot with some of the more dodgy stories in the paper. They're there one day, then disappear the next. Probably some lawyers involved somewhere ;)

Hey... hi Noni... you're most very welcome over here. As you can see, we're just having a little quarrel about the Royals. Feel free to stick in your 2 rupees worth

Who cares? I get snubbed day in day out but it doesn't go in the paper. I did Google the suggested phrases, the fact that so called 'magazines' like Hello and so called 'newspapers' like the Daily Mail were the ones reporting this tripe says it all to me. It's not news, it's distraction! Someone give me a good reason why I should care about this but shouldn't care when someone else is snubbed please.

Oh and yeah, we have a great Queen, I do like her and I think it's great to get all the touristy bits from her as well as the fact that she seems a decent person. Sadly not all of the family are like that... I met the royals here as well and they are much the same as her and also have the same problems with lower royals.

But yeah, I can take or leave royalty. If it didn't bring in some tourism then I'd say get rid of it. But France got rid of their royals. No one says of Paris 'you know, this place is nice but I'm not going becuase there is no King'. Then again, everyone hates the French becuase they've only got that slimy guy in a suit to represent them :-P

If you lived in Thailand you would certainly know how revered the Thai King is.The respect in his case is certainly earned and well deserved.
A few years ago I had a large surgery in the Bangkok Hospital where The King was also undergoing operations.
The inner gardens,a large area probably the size of 8 tennis courts, was filled with camping Thais praying for the King, for days on end.The atmosphere was charged with emotion, and it brought tears to our eyes as we finally left after 10 days in ICU.
The main point in the Telegraph story however was one of manners, a lack of courtesy was shown by a minor British Royal to a Thai princess.
This was not, in my view ,how anyone should behave ,Royal or not.

I've just checked Google again and count ten links on this story on the first page.
