Default Accommodation Cost? Advice?

Looking online and accommodation seems quite expensive for what you get, talking about Bangkok.

Would like to live in or around Ekkamai, easy access to BTS.....2bed 2 baths, are the prices on the renting websites accurate?

Would 35-40k get me something nice?

Thanks!

Yes, I would think at that price level, you will be able to find somehting very nice. All along the Sukhumvit "corridor" in BKK, prices are generally higher than other places in BKK.

People will tell you that the internet is a good place to start, but nothing is better than going out and doing the legwork yourself (obviously much easier if you have a Thai speaking friend). It is my understanding that you are not bound to a certain agent, so there is some flexibility there.

Will you be able to spend some time after arriving in BKK to look for a condo? I think that would be best, if possible.
