Best Bangkok hospital

Sorry about the content
I live in the uk & have had a cancer diagnosis.
The NHS is not what it was these days & I am in a position to seek private treatment.
I have the choice (I think) between the Bumrungrad, Vegthani & Bangkok hospitals.
All profess to be excellent at cancer treatment.
Could anyone advise on which is my best bet?

If I was living in Thailand and needed expert medical treatment I would look for a teaching hospital (attached to a university, to train doctors). I am not sure which, if any, of the three you listed are teaching hospitals. IMO I would take a teaching hospital over a private hospital in most cases, unless for some reason, such as cost, that only a private hospital would provide a certain desirable treatment.

You won't go far wrong with any of them. I'd suggest you just contact them and see which one you feel is most responsive.

FWIW, I've never had treatment here for anything serious, but I usually go to Bumrungrad. You can choose your doctor, they are very used to dealing with foreigners, and they make the whole process very easy, but that comes at a cost. I do feel that they price gouge and over-treat, and for something major, that could really increase the cost.

Personally, given how poor the medical education system is here, I wouldn't particularly seek out a teaching hospital, and I generally opt for doctors that have done at least their specialist training overseas for the same reason.

If I were in your position, I'd be researching individual specialists and finding out where they work, rather than focusing on a specific hospital. If you are limited to those 3 due to insurance requirements or something, then you could still start with a specialist and work backwards. You are likely to find most of the top oncologists have surgeries in at least one of those hospitals.

I've had a quote from Vejthani which is affordable even with a margin for overcharging.
It's just a big shame that the NHS is too broken to be relyed on.

My reply is a bit late & you may have chosen a hospital. I have several friends who had to deal with cancer in Bangkok.
Don't get fixed on a hospital, look at doctors. You don't say what type of cancer but for intestinal cancers friends did well at Samitivej Srinakarin, urology Samitivej Sukhumvit, specialists aren't all in one hospital. I don't know of anybody who went to Vejthani.
Bangkok Hospital has a good reputation for oncology.
Teaching hospitals (Chulalongkorn Hosp.) is very good but language is a problem for non Thai speaker.
