Telephone Interview Anyone?

Hi

I am hoping to get out to Brisbane/GC area early next depending on visa. I have applied to SmartTeachers to register my interest for ICT/Business Secondary teaching jobs and I have advised them that as yet I have not got my visa and intend to migrate next year. However, knowing all of this I have a telephone interview at 6 in the morning. Has anyone has a telephone interview? What should I expect? Anyone had any dealings with Smart Teachers? Thanks Nicky

Is the interview actually with Smart Teachers? If so then its not really an interview (at least mine wasn't) they just ask some general questions about your experience/ qualifications etc to help them find you a placement. Be prepared to be asked how many subjects you can teach, they will try and get you to say yes to as many subjects as possible. If you're confident just go with it, otherwise stand your ground and stay subject specific, or be prepared to be offered jobs outside your specialist area.

If smart teachers have a principal from a school contacting you then they should already have your CV and references. In my experience the telephone interview with Principals is more of a chat, and they may then want to see you when you get to oz to confirm if they are taking you on. However given you don't have a visa yet this scenario is unlikely.

Thanks for your replies. It was a telephone interview for Smart teachers and everything went okay the usual types of questions. I am going to now wait until I have my visa and they will actively try and find me some work. It it good to know that they think work for ICT/Business Secondary is available. Now for the wait.......
