Teaching New Zealand
:)hi all trying to find out any information about primary teaching in nz, i have been teaching in primary schools for 10 years now and thinking about moving to nz. However i have been reading lots of conflicting information - one says nz needs experienced primary teachers then another says jobs are hard to find? Would love to hear anyones experiences - how they went about finding a school to teach in and if the nz teaching style is much different to our own (uk). I teach in a deprived part of the city so I love challenges - much to debate please help if you can? thx

Re: Teaching New Zealand
Hello,
It is confusing, we considered New Zealand first but researching found that there was not that many Primary teaching jobs. Any jobs you may find are likely to be in Auckland and not in the best areas. Supposed to be a shortage however people on TES website are saying this is not the case. I researched for several months and everything I read last year said their is no shortage in Primary. In the end we went for Australia as thought we would have better chance securing a Primary job. This worked out well for us. High School jobs seam more of a shortage. Gems |
