registration to teach in SA

has anyone managed to register to teach in SA off shore? how long did the assessment of skills take - i have had my skills assessed by NOOSR for my SIR visa but it seems i also need to have them assessed by the SA regristration board - is this correct? i have checked on the SA website but i'm still not sure

i am worried that if i apply off shore i may have moved before it is granted - but i leave it until i arrive i will have to wait with out a job for months while i sort it out.

any info on this would be appreciated

thanks
jax

Have a look at these sites.

http://www.decs.sa.gov.au/recruit/pa...uitment/teach/

http://www.trb.sa.edu.au/

http://www.decs.sa.gov.au/decs_home.asp

Yes you can register before you move out.

If you have a look at the FAQ in Adelaidebrits there is some info on teaching in SA.

Hope this helps a little

Dear Jax
I am also sailing in the same boat. Yes we do need to get our skills assessed again by south aus board and they may advise for additional bridging course if they feel its less than their requirement.Since I presume you have British degrees you may not have a problem.
But yes even after moving in to get ourselves registered we need to get a SA police check and in case of primary teachers a first aid course organised by SA edu deptt only. I am moving in by 27th Aug.
Hope you can help out with any more info u have on the subject.
Regards .
