Primary in the USA
 

I'm preparing to attend uni in the UK starting 2009 and will hopefully emerge with a B.Ed. in 3 years time.

I'm not planning out my whole life just yet, but I was wondering if anyone could give me the heads up on what it's like, and how I'd go about becoming a Brit teacher in the USA.

I spent some time in FL with expat friends and enjoyed their way of life over in the States, so this is another consideration for me for the future.

As a teacher, is there British elementary schools in FL that I'd be able to apply to, or if needed, how does one go about adapting to the different curriculum over there?

As you said you will emerge with a B.Ed in 3 years time, then Im gathering that your degree is only going to be a 3 year degree. If this is the case, then this rules out all States with the exception of North Carolina.....NC is the only state that accepts 3 year degrees in order to obtain teacher certification and practice teaching. The other 49 States require a 4 year degree (or 3 year degree + PGCE for eg).

As for getting a job....well this is very difficult as you will need to find a school that is able to sponsor you- getting working visas for the US is notoriously hard. Your best bet would be to do something like vif www.vifprogram.com/ Here, if you are accepted you are placed in a school for 3 years on a J1 visa (if you have a 3 year degree then NC is the only option)...the snag is that there is no way to renew this visa. The only way to stay is to have a school sponsor you on a different working visa.
