Default PGCE student teaching in Oz

Hi there

Can I pick some brains from the very helpful folks on this board?

I am a mature student doing a PGCE at a university in secondary maths which finishes in in June. I already have Oz Permanent Residency (thanks to my wife!), and we are planning to move to Melbourne in September (after our eldest daughter finishes her GCSE's).

My actual degree is in economics but has a high maths content.

Will my qualifications be recognised in Oz?

Can I apply for jobs in Oz (vic) for the academic year beginning end Jan 08 and will it involve an Oz equivalent of the NQT year?

Do you have to be Catholic to teach in Catholic schools?

Thanks in advance
