permenant residency

Hello people,
Im not sure about the age limit so here is my question and i hope someone knows the answer.

I have had my skills assessed, and i am registered as a secondary teacher in Victoria. My visa application (176) has been lodged on 23 june 08.

If i get a visa and go to Oz in June 2009 i will have to wait 3 years before i can apply for permenant residency (according to the rules) but in 3 years from june 2009 i will be 45 and a half, can i still get residency as i will be over 45 or will i be ok as i got the visa when i would be 42 and a half??????

Thank you, thank you, thank you

Hi Mark,

A 176 visa would give you Permanent Residency from the day you receive it. It is a PR visa.

Kind Regards,

Gary

Absolutlely, I can't actually think where the 3 year figure came from as citizenship is in 4 years time...

By the way garyjames, you do know you will need to apply for full registration with VIT after you have the visa. it's only possible to get provisional registration at this point.

Hi Hereshoping,

I think one of the points mentioned in your message should have been addressed to Markinoz, and was put to me instead.

I am wondering if Mark (as his name suggests) is already in Oz. Possibly on a temporary visa such as a 457. And by being so, has managed to get full registration with VIT.

Perhaps we should ask him? :) Are you already in Oz, Mark?

Kind Regards,

Gary

Hi,

I am not in Oz yet, but i do have full registration for secondary teaching in Victoria. The agent i have told me that i had to have registration before i apply for the visa so i applied (which was a bit complicated) and i got the full registration.

You will be eligible to apply for citizenship after you have spent 4 years in Australia.

quite probably, it's an internet forum so i don't take huge amounts of care after all.

i'm also not yet in Australia, but I do have full VIT registration. It's possible to sort this from the UK, but not until you have your visa.

As I said in my previous message it's 4 years for citizenship.
