Default Hoping to teach in Abu Dhabi

Hi brand new on here. I am hoping someone can answer a question I have. I am a secondary teacher ( science/ middle manager ) 53 and single. I am interested in teaching in the Abu Dhabi public system. My problem is I have a drink drive on my criminal record from 10 years ago I worry that this would bar me I am teaching at the moment in a welsh comprehensive ( 21 years ). I look forward to any responses.

I'm not an expert, so don't take what I say as the 100% truth.

I don't think it would completely ruin your chances; however, I would imagine it would certainly decrease the chances of you getting a job over somebody else.

Is there any way that you could perhaps get a pardon or have it waived? 10 years seems a long time too.

Thanks for your answer unfortunately the Uk CRB check covers all criminal offences in perpetuity. The offence was outside school time, it didn't affect my position in school and the general teaching council took no further action but it is still recorded so ??

A CRB check (now done by DBS) is only for UK employers. If you are employed elsewhere you would have to produce a Subject Access check, they can't do a check with DBS. Get on to your local police HQ in the UK and ask for a Subject Access check - there is a chance that if it was purely drink driving and no other offence, it may no longer appear.
