Hoping to teach in Abu Dhabi

My problem is I have a drink drive on my criminal record from 10 years ago I worry that this would bar me I am teaching at the moment in a welsh comprehensive ( 21 years ). I look forward to any responses.

I'm not an expert, so don't take what I say as the 100% truth.
I don't think it would completely ruin your chances; however, I would imagine it would certainly decrease the chances of you getting a job over somebody else.
Is there any way that you could perhaps get a pardon or have it waived? 10 years seems a long time too.

A CRB check (now done by DBS) is only for UK employers. If you are employed elsewhere you would have to produce a Subject Access check, they can't do a check with DBS. Get on to your local police HQ in the UK and ask for a Subject Access check - there is a chance that if it was purely drink driving and no other offence, it may no longer appear.
