Hi, i think as a start you could have a look at the careers website in australia such as www.seek.com.au or http://www.careerone.com.au/ or http://mycareer.com.au/ and have a search with keyword french . i noticed that catholic primary schools or some private school particulary look for french teachers. where are you from by the way?

In our area the schools teach Indonesian, Japanese and German (Due to a larger than normal German history in the area I think).

I just looked at the Brisbane schools, and out of 21 that I could check, 6 teach French.

They teach French at my kids school here in Perth, and in a few schools roundabout (primary & secondary.) Couldn't tell you how big a demand there is though. Best of luck.

Hi Mandurah Baptist College (funnily enough in Mandurah!) teach French definitely at Primary School and I'm presuming they follow it through to Secondary.

The 2 Catholic primary schools near us - one does Italian and the other Indonesian.

Indonesian and I think Mandarin are more commonly taught here.

Good luck I wish mine were learning French - at least I'd know some of it!

I don't know why anyone bothers to learn french, it's a complete waste of time. French is a relic of the past and hardly spoken outside France. The only foreign languages that should be taught in schools are Chinese, Japanese & Spanish.

French is spoken in huge swathes of Africa- does that not count Ned?

Anyway French is not commonly taught in secondary schools, but it is taught in a number of schools so there are possibilities for employment.
