Attention High School Teachers!!!!

Hello from snowy Scotland...................Brrrrrrrrrrrrr
Can any teachers in QLD help us with an idea of payscales regarding a secondary/high school teacher (Chartered) with 10 years experience who can teach French, German and Spanish.
Some people have said that it would be about $50k but I would like this confirmed if possible. Is this a realistic figure and does it depend on the type of school whether it be State or Private, etc?
Ok gotta to go and shovel some more snaw.................lol
Thankyou
Nom

Hi there
We are in snowy Scotland too (Edinburgh!) and heading off to Melbourne next May. Whereabouts in Scotland are you?

My husband hopes to teach French/Italian so interested in your post too!
From what I understand, it can take a while to find permanent work as a Secondary Teacher. I think it's a case of doing supply for a good while. I'm wondering why this is though when they are supposedly in such high demand?

Are French and Italian taught in Australia?! I thought it was more languages that were taught initially as LOTE in Primary schools such as Japanese etc?!

Yes, French and Italian are taught - certainly in Melbourne where we will be moving to. We have seen a few jobs advertised, though mostly in private schools.

MFL in Adelaide seems to be mainly Italian and Spanish.

Plenty of positions in rural areas and competition for jobs in cities in huge. You may have to start of in a country town for one or two years and get aussie experience before anyone will touch you in the city just to let you know.

That's interesting Weebie! Would you say there would be quite a bit of work supply wise for French/Italian? Ideally my husband would prefer a more permanent post but from what I have found out so far, this appears unlikely to happen.

When you say 'rural areas' how far out of Melbourne city would you be talking about - just to give us a better idea? Are you teaching yourself at the moment?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Attention High School Teachers!!!!

The information I have read is very interesting.
I would like to teach French/German and/or Spanish in Queensland.

I do have a visa but would like to register my interest with Queensland.
Which application form should I use.

The pdf below mentions an APPLICATION FOR TEACHER REGISTRATION FORM but I can't find it!!!https://www.qct.edu.au/PDF/PSU/Teach...Guidelines.pdf

Should I look for a job before applying for registration??!!

Thank you for your help,
Nat

As I've explained to you before, you MUST get your registration NO MATTER WHAT, or you quite simply won't be able to teach! QLD reg takes a LONG time and at this rate it could be March/April before it's finalised. So my advice, GET A MOVE ON LOL

Thank you for your reply.

Everything is ready to go (documents) except for section 9 (Declarations) regarding my suitability to teach.
The Register officer has told me that "The declaration is at the end of the application form - you need to read the document - sign the declaration in front of an authorised person. You do not need to complete a blank statutory declaration form (having no convictions). Please read the application guidelines for further information", which frankly is not helpful at all. Am I missing something? There is no document at the end of the application form!

Thnaks,
Nat

There was a page at the back I signed, in front of a witness...
