Any hope for a beginning teacher in WA?
Hi there folks
First post so please excuse the dithering!
I am currently living in NZ (although Northumbrian through and through!).
I qualified with a NZ Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning (Primary)last year. Sadly as Christchurch is notoriously difficult for beginning teachers my aussie partner and I are considering selling up and moving to WA. (I have a spouse visa for Oz).
I completed a Certificate in Catechetical (Catholic) Studies which I hoped would give me an extra chance of employment.
Has anyone ventured over there as a beginning teacher? Is there any hope?
Or will I be snubbed with the double whammy of being a pommie with kiwi qualifications! I have been working as an Education Officer at a Museum and Art gallery but would love the opportunity to get into a school!!!!

Well WA do have a teacher shortage at the moment. But most of the jobs are rural.
However do think you could get into teaching in Western Australia.
Might be worth contacting the education department direct. Also jobs advertised on the WA education website.

You would almost defiantely get a job, but quite possibly not in your preferred area as you have to accumulate work experience in a rural area before moving to the more poular areas.

But only if you want to work in the public sector - otherwise you can work anywhere in a private school
