As someone mentioned, any equipment manufacture is susceptible to hacks. No one has proved till now that Huawei equipment is more vulnerable compared to other manufacturers while Huawei has tried partnering with the respective government to have their hardware tested to their satisfaction before installation. 5G has a lot of money and thats why all this hullabaloo to keep Chinese companies out of this and also to stop the growth of the Chinese.
The US government is also considering subsidizing Cisco for 5G development by either partnering/acquiring Nokia or Ericsson.

Canada is now the only five eyes country that hasn't banned Huawei from participating in its infrastructure. They were hanging in there because of the UK's previous stance but as more of a consumer of intelligence rather than a source, it's only going to have to be a matter of time before Canada follows suit.

India can't make up its mind! (However they possibly have Jio 5G to come. (Ambani).

We know it's not. But then the only question is who you trust more.

Indeed. The difference is that if there are spying back doors built into networking equipment by Cisco, Palo Alto etc. then chances are that GHCQ will have access to it and probably engineered part of it in the first place.

Snowden already revealed exactly that.

Yes, Huawei actually funded a lab for its kit to be tested by British engineers.... and without doubt, the "secret squirrels" also demand their own slots with British network builders to conduct penetration and security testing of their own..... they always did in my day. As Edward Snowden revealed, the one manufacturer whose products definitely have back-doors installed is ..... Cisco!! (see THIS)

So, if Cisco do achieve any influence over the network builds for 5G, it seems pretty certain that out friends in the NSA will exploit that to do a little eavesdropping of their own. As AJP Taylor once said "I can never understand why a Russian aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean is a threat, but an American one is protecting freedom" The idea that we delay our rollout and pay megabucks to allow the US to spy on us, seems ridiculous..... but obviously Washington is using its dominance to bully us just as much as it claims China wants to do.

You can't just point at the NSA for this. GCHQ are a shower of dirty bastards and are just as bad really, if not worse.

The question should actually be "Whose political system do you prefer?".

That wasn't the question but if like we can rephrase it: What country would you rather live, work and raise a family in? The USA or China?
