Thumbs up On your way, Huawei

Now for some proper significant stuff to talk about. At long last the UK has taken the decision to dump Huawei. It's for very good reason too given the increasingly belligerent behaviour that our democratic and freedom loving nations have been subjected to from the Leninist Chinese regime. One wonders how it was ever seen as a feasible option to involve Huawei in the 5G network rollout in the first place.

Anyone think the UK should have kept Huawei on board and if so, why?

Canada is in the middle of this US-China- Huawei spat.

Wednesday the US or China will likely be pissed at Canada, but of course in Canada our judges decide rulings independently of the politicians, but you know how politics is.

I'm not technical enough to understand the alleged risks to national security, but so far, the only thing I've heard are that networks (of any origin) can be hacked. I haven't seen any hard evidence of any specific built in "back doors" or other security risks. Only the implication that there "could be" because China is a "bad guy", and all of this seems to have originated within the Trump administration, which of course is equally as suspect as anyone.

I don't really care if they buy from Huawei or anyone else, but most of this stuff is manufactured in China (or generally, Asia) anyway, no matter what brand name is on the front panel.

The question for me is whether these decisions are being made on the basis of politically motivated conspiracy theories, or some irrefutable evidence.

As you know, the clock is ticking for Boris' government to produce some evidence of a return to British greatness, and the only shining light on the horizon seems to be the announcement of some kind of "trade deal" with the US, which as Trump has indicated on a number of occasions, will require that the ruling UK government capitulate to Trump whims (and even then, has very limited economic potential).

This all sounds suspiciously like yet another fabricated anti-china Trump conspiracy theory, it does ostensibly suggest the descent into yet another of the necessary capitulations required for the purpose of securing that imaginary "trade deal" that Boris so desperately needs for domestic political gain.

”Leninist” as in the New Economic Policy of 1921?

May be a fair description - I believe the peasants are allowed to keep some of their produce for profit now ...

Yeah, that's one to watch.

Reportedly 4 out of 5 Canadians want Huawei banned from any role in building that country's 5G network, however in the below article, it says:

Our government continues to behave as if Canada-China relations will resume status quo ante once the matter of Huawei chief financial officer Meng Wanzhou is resolved. Earlier this year, when Foreign Affairs Minister François-Philippe Champagne chose an adviser for the Asia-Pacific file, he named Pascale Massot, a former senior mentor to Mr. Champagne’s predecessor Stéphane Dion. Mr. Dion was the architect of Canada’s failed policy of strategic appeasement with Russia, China, Iran and Saudi Arabia. There is no indication Ms. Massot has undergone any Damascene conversion on how best to engage the People’s Republic of China.

Top Canadian military officials also want the government to drop Huawei.

Either way Wed's decision will piss someone off, the question is will it be the US or will it be China.

Blimey, it looks like this is a red hot topic in Canada at the moment and hasn't much been talked about here in Australia. I'll have a closer look later today....

Yes it's been a hot topic since she was arrested and China arrested 2 Canadian's in what appears to be retaliation and has kept them in prison since Dec 10, 2018 somewhere in China.

The Huawei executive while under house arrest, is staying in her luxury mansion in Vancouver, so her life under house arrest is probably still better than most Canadian's daily normal life.

India are going for it despite USA objections. --Difficult to know why, when almost on a 'war footing' with China over various border disputes and the Belt and Road project.

Yes, that is surprising. I would have thought the Indian Government would be more strategic than that.

It turns out this whole Huawei puzzle is somewhat more complicated than just the unacceptable security risk posed by a Chinese company - though that on it's own is in my opinion enough to steer well clear of it. But check this pretty good analysis out:

Thanks paulry, but I'm always a little concerned about getting some Russian troll virus from your fringe YouTube videos. Have anything written?

Ah, Ruskies under the beds, again, huh? 'Fraid you'll have to read the board behind the presenter or carry on being uninformed. A pity though because the geezer reveals the many very plausible dynamics at play.... But I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few more.

If it's anything like the previous fringe conspiracy theory videos you post, "plausible dynamics" is highly unlikely.

Yeah and if recent celebration photos are anything to go by, it looks like she's pretty certain she'll be freed. I wonder if she knows something that the rest of us don't....

It's a conspiracy. The deep state at work. Illuminati. Trilateral commission. Obamagate.
