I should hope so.

But that police department, and many others, needs to take a close look at their training. Their officers are apparently trained to behave like troops in a war zone, with every person they encounter being "the enemy".

Man shows up at a Northern California police station with dead body in his car, tells police he killed that man, plus 3 others in his apartment some 260 miles away from where he turned himself in.

Cops now say she pointed a gun at the window. I bet he'll walk, and take compensation, if that's the case.

You're probably right. I heard he was in the backyard and didn't announce himself as police. I guess stand your ground laws only apply for some.

In this land of the heavily armed, where people are encouraged to shoot other people if they perceive a threat, a woman in a house in Texas hears someone prowling around her house on her property and coming up to the window. So (maybe) she grabs her gun. It's what people here do and it's dangerous. Including for the person who is pointing the gun. As we see.

I'm hoping that this doesn't actually belong in this thread, ie that there are no fatalities. Not that going to school to be shot and wounded exactly makes for a good day

At least five people have been injured after a gunman opened fire on the grounds of a high school in California, officials say.

The shooting took place at the Saugus High School in Santa Clarita north of Los Angeles on Thursday, minutes before the school day was due to begin.

Police described the suspect as an Asian male wearing black clothing. Police describe the scene as "active".

The school, and other neighbouring schools have been placed on lockdown.

According to the LA Times website, the suspect is a 15-year-old boy.

NBC has an updated article, and unfortunately seems one of the victims was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. 2 in critical condition, and 1 in good condition. Police say the shooter is in custody and being treated at hospital, although they don't say why the shooter is being treated at the hospital.

And so it goes on, and on, and on............................
How chilling is this, taken from the BBC article I linked above:
According to the Washington Post, more than 230,000 young people have experienced gun violence at school since the Columbine High School massacre in Colorado in 1999.

The kid was probably being given a rough time by other kids and the internet doesn't help either since internet bullying has become a plague amongst young people. I can bare witness to this since one of my granddaughters had to be transferred to another school. I think they said he was 15 years of age.

Here's an update, another victim has died, and the shooter is in hospital with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Seems that senator Blumenthal was speaking on gun control in the house when the news broke. Realistically speaking you'll be revising part of your given location (under your profile pic) long before meaningful gun reform happens here.
