Default Will Boris' win cause NI & Scotland to leave?

It is now a fact that Boris Johnson has firm control of power in the UK. The majority of Ireland and Scotland enjoys being in the European Union. Nationalist for the first time, now out number Unionist for Britain's Parliament. Scotland just elected more SNP and are moving toward another vote to leave the UK. What do you think will Conservative success with Brexit split the UK?

Looking forward to closing down the devolved parliaments then? Put us stupid loser Scots in our place?

We are stupid losers aren't we? It's what we keep getting told?

No - they were always going to leave at some point anyway.

Scotland repeatedly votes in petty nationalists like the SNP whose sole goal is to leave the union. Their idea of "once in a generation" was always going to be "every five or six years" and they would use any pretext to suggest yet another vote was required. No haggis, neeps and tatties at the westminster cafeteria - "time for a referendum, the English are crushing us!"

The NI prodies were always going to out bred by the Catholics and as Ireland itself became less of a backward place over the past 20 years the idea of merging begins to look less unattractive.

Perhaps it's you telling yourselves that? I don't hear it in England.

You keep voting in petty nationalists whose sole aim is to leave the union and whose tactics include regularly disparaging England.

In the past you held a huge sway over the UK, in the Blair/Brown governments the Scots seemed to hold most of the big positions, as soon as you aren't you throw your toys out of the pram and want to vote to leave again.

The Scots need to grow up, ditch the nasty nationalism and play their part in the UK polity in a positive fashion.

Well, we'll see how it plays out. NI has the easiest go of it. Boris already "threw them under the bus" so to speak. And event of a no deal or highly unfavourable deal (likely), then things will get pretty dicey for the "UK". If a reunification poll succeeds, it's a simple matter of enacting it. No border issues, and NI will once again be an EU member. Not without some issues, but it would be pretty easy for them.

Scotland is likely to force a referendum, despite England telling them they can't (which would only inflane more support for it, and especially if NI goes). I think they would receive lots of private support from the EU, but not publicly. I have to suspect talks have already begun with the EU on (re)joining. I'm sure research of the process is well underway. But Scotland has a big border, and that would be the main point of contention. And it's not trivial.

If both NI and Scotland make the move, I have no doubt Wales would not want to be stuck with England. Maybe a union between them and Scotland would form. We'll see.

My not so serious, but also maybe a little bit serious answer to your question is I bloody hope so.

Celtic Union, anyone? We'll take Newcastle and Liverpool too, and any other regions in the wonderful North that care to come with us. We might even allow the Normans down in London to join in if they play nice.

Let Boris have his ethnostate if he really wants.

That I could do. I may not be able to claim Irish nationality due to being a generation too far removed, but I can certainly claim Celtic genetic material as well as Norman.

We're not running any purity tests in the CU, so no need to worry there.
