These are obviously people who don't have to job hunt. By the time I get done with a day of that I want gin, not bloody bread, and I definitely don't want to have to make the stuff. Far too much faff.
To be honest, I wanted to see how easy it was. Turns out, it's easy.

Hahahahahahhahahaha. She doesn't use it. The maid does.

.

That's what the OH says. He's the cook of the family and knocks bread up, as it were, at the drop of a hat. I didn't marry him just for his looks you know.

I picture him as a 90's Piers Brosnan, pure Bond style but with a socialist-twist. Like it's a second hand suit or he's fighting everyday corporations like Starbucks for rights or just generally less toff and more man-of-the-people kinda Bond.

I'm the cook of the house too actually, mainly because I really enjoy it and love her reaction when I serve dinner and it looks good. Her plate is try-hard-but-shit restaurant lay out and presentation, mine is a jumble. Always get a 'wooow this looks amazing' though when you make the effort.

He's more toff reject turned punk turned anarchist (theoretical, not the bomb-tossing kind) did Classics at uni (you've no idea how handy Attic Greek is these days) dropped out of uni went to work on an oil exploration ship caught malaria had one of the first email addresses in the world fell into software sales fell out again likes nice clothes but tends to actually dress like a French Canadian trapper without a beard but with hair now half way down his back freak genius IQ musician who can cook. Never a dull moment at our house.

Good for you for cooking to make your intended happy. Doing things to make others happy is hugely underestimated imo.

Why am I not surprised that you didn't fall for a 9 - 5 establishment man in a suit

I have to say though, right now that house in Esher would look pretty good.

I mean, I wouldn't want to live there but I'd flog it in a heartbeat and finance our move back.

There is that, a touch of establishment can be beneficial.

He sounds like someone I could have met at my oldest brothers house in Cambridge. If we visited at weekends there were always all sorts of students/ ex-students passing through. This was late 60's and my soon to be lovely sister in law was an anazing hostess to all and sundry. I used to curl up on the huge floor cushions and watch in awe because she was so sociable and I was so shy!

He's more like that now than he used to be.

He used to look more like this (not actually him);

Then there was this stage.

Now it's more like this.

Hmm, most of the drifting friends were beatnik types or more hippyish. This was before the punk era!

There was this stage too, before the festivals got all glammed up.
