True on "which is best" points, but knowing the magic number makes it one very easy mental calculation.

The standard measure here is PSI, that's what mine will display in 'US' measurements. It's slightly different from British Imperial here though, so some units will be different.

I'll try to remember when I'm out grabbing lunch but according to this, the conversion rate is 235.215 (L/100km = 235.215/mpg). So 50 mpg is 4.705 L/100km.

This is for the US gallon (1 US gal = 0.8 Imperial gallons, or 3.785 l)

That seems to work. The magic number in this case for MPG to L/100km (or vice versa) would be 235 for US gallons; the UK equivalent is 280.

Take the number that you know and divide it into the relevant "magic number" et voila.

Earlier today I filled the car and reset the trip, crawled home through stop/start jammed roads about 6km and got 9.4 L/100km; 280/9.4 gives 29.78 MPG

On a looong highway run (with the car set to Eco mode, and me set on non-nutter mode), I can get 280/6.8 so 40.58 MPG. Not brilliant I know...

OH's hybrid vehicle gets 51.8 MPG in town traffic, but has not been measured on joint long trips due to potential death through boredom/spinal discomfort on my part.

Plus her shite taste in music.

There we go. I shall try to remember to test the theory as a proof of concept when in my car at lunch. I'll just take my average mpg off my trip computer as the reference point and see if it bears out.

Or I'll forget. It's 50-50, really.

Oh, and your post did some weird shit when I tried to quote it so I just deleted the quote instead, sorry.

I always have to convert it online, 6.4 liters per 100km doesn't click, but 36mpg instantly clicks in my brain.

I doubt metric will ever come natural to me, I am better now with some metric stuff vs 15 years ago, but when a sign says exit 2,000 meters it's useless to me, no clue how far that is in reality without having time to convert it.

I am so livid right now, I have not been this mad for a very long time, wife will be upset if I say why, but I am done with her family and need to evaluate what is best for me and go forward from there.

This is not a wind-up, where I'm going has to do with 'magic' numbers.

ps Sultan, you said "maths" and not "math" so all is not lost.
Eurgh, so used to MPG but car displays it all in L/100km. I have no idea what the latter means, but all the distances here are in KM and the speedo is KM so having to change the settings to have a reading that makes sense to me (mpg) is a faff.

Did it once though and was about 13mpg, so quickly switched back and ignore it. Fortunately, petrol here is filthy cheap and I expense it all so don't really care. Dad did tell me a quick way to convert from one to the other but I forgot and it wasn't easy.

L/100km is just stupid.

And then there's distances and speeds.
Travelling by coach in Europe the distances remaining shown on the signs always made it seem like you were getting to where you were going quicker because the number of kms left went down quicker than miles.

Now, I sit in a taxi here and it seems like we're going faster than we really are because the speedo shows we're going 80 instead of 50.

If dividing by 14 worked with the ladies, I'd have a much more impressive resume where that's concerned

Y'all... Lloyd's can really suck it. Honestly this man is making it super hard not to punch him in the face. He said a letter from our solicitor would be enough. So we got a letter but now he switched it up on us and said that I need a tendency agreement or a bill. On the bright side some other place did let me open an account.. then my gp's office misspelled my last name... goodness...

Also.. Wtheck.. Being told how addictive a drug (xanax) is then being questioned by your new gp to see if youre not addicted.. LAWD.. Y'all I was so upset I left there in tears. I work in the bloody field. I get it, its precaution but she could also not give a flying duck about my health and establishing care. deep breaths.

Lloyds person sounds like he didn't know what he was doing. My student son opened his account at Barclays, who were much more approachable than Lloyds or NatWest.

I think in general you'll find that doctors in the UK are much slower to prescribe things like benzos and narcotics than they are in the US. It isn't that they don't care (without knowing your individual one of course) but it is a big cultural difference and they are likely to worry if the patient is asking for them.

Of course now somebody will be along to tell me I'm wrong .

It's not a coincidence that 'banker' rhymes with 'wanker'.

I'm not going to tell you your wrong, but if temazepam counts as a narcotic/benzo (which I think it does), my doc back home didn't seem to be too hesitant prescribing me a low dose to, in her mind 'help me sleep'. Needless to say, it didn't work so I never refilled the prescription but ya know.

I should have gone to one of those but I was just going to lloyds as its down the street. I live right on a main road. Which makes it super easy to go places but the other ones are super far away.

I actually am not even taking them. But I just went to establish care (register with a GP) and my husband told me to bring my meds so I did. She did tell me she wont give them to me. I said I'm not asking for them I'm just letting you know that I have them and showing her the rest of my meds (allergies and PCOS meds). Wish I didnt. Because my husband is a worrier and she said drug addiction and now hes watching me. Lordt!
