FOB system for the building is down again, this happens multiple times a year. They clearly went with a crappy system....lol

Also shows why relying 100% on electronic system is a bad idea, without keys when the electronic system goes down, nobody can get into the building.

I am not pithed orf. I am very very sad.

My lovely bourke parakeet Bertie Tweetle died yesterday. I am not sure why. I didn't get him to the vet in time either although I tried.
I really loved him y'know. He and his mate Jenny have been with us for years since being rescued.
He had a duff wing so couldn't fly but he was such a wonderful song master. Always singing especially at dawn and dusk. Talk to him and he'd talk bourke back at ya.
He was also a brave , chirpy little bird, so full of character. Dusty cat got too close to the cage, especially with her tail and he would give her a warning squawk, nip and tug. She didn't mess with Bertie.

RIP Bertie Tweetle.

He sounded like quite a feathered character.

So very sorry to hear about Bertie Tweetle. Sure he had the best life with you guys. Hope Jenny is doing okay without him.
Our pets are family and it hurts when they leave us.

I'm sorry for your loss. People only recognise "character" in birds when they are close to them, but I know exactly what you mean. My masked lovebird, Charlie, was a mini-parrot with big parrot attitude. He was named for Chaplin, because of the way he walked, but proved to be a fascination - like the way he repeated dropped from the top of the kitchen cabinet and tried to grab the door handle on the way down for weeks - until the evening he succeeded, after which it was just too boring to try again; like the way he dropped off his perch and tried to hover and spin to undo the nut underneath... until the day it fell off - then never again. He has been gone for 10 years now - as long as he was a member of our family - but we talk of him still.

Sorry to hear Bevs.

Bird intelligence is a strange thing. You can never be quite sure what's going on in there, but something definitely is. You can tell by the way they look at you.

Believe it! At Uni, my specialism was behaviour modification - so to see examples of self-motivated goal setting.... which these seemed to be, followed by the immediate cessation of the behaviour, was fascinating.

Charlie, like many parrots, developed the self-plucking behaviour.... and I swear that from the way he looked at us before, during and after pulling a feather, he was making a point! - 50 grammes of attitude
