Split shifts at jobs.

3 hours * 5 = 15 hours a week unpaid but stuck at workplace due to the split not being long enough to leave.

I think split shifts should be illegal.

I thought Canadian labour law was more protective. Obviously I was wrong.

Canada is in many ways just as ****ed as the US is. Trailer Park Boys is actually a documentary, not many people know that ...

But yeah, for real. Look at the treatment of the First Nations, and, well Alberta.

Yes, that's true. Trudeau seems sold out to the oil companies, for example. Right through First Nations land.

They're all bought and paid for by the oil companies.

Not really, some differences that are better (minimum annual vacation) but some that are worse (at least comparing BC to California)

Take breaks for example, California has better rules for breaks.

In a standard 8 hour day an employee gets 2 paid 10 minute breaks + 1 unpaid 30 minute break all have to be uninterrupted.

In a standard 8 hour day in BC an employee gets a 30 minute unpaid break.

In BC work 5 hours or less, no break at all.

In California if you work between 3 h 30 m and 6 hour you get 1 10 minute break.

I'm not quite with it at the mo . How does it work.

How many hours on and then off . For how many days before rest days. How many rest days?

Then how many rest days? Trying to get a sense of the rhythm and routine. I have done back to back shifts in my time 12 hours shifts. One a 'waking night' which means one is allowed to sleep but the reality was one did not sleep as always on a form of alert. Then straight into the awake 12 hr shift. Cannot remember how the rota for rest days worked though.
