I still carry my Swiss army knife on a daily basis, have done so since long before moving to CH. When travelling it has to go in a bag in the hold; one time at Gatwick security I realised that it was still in my pocket, they couldn't pass it to a crew member for safe keeping, but did offer a forwarding service. As it wasn't typical red, but unusually EU blue I decided to go for it, was relieved of a fiver, and it was delivered at home in CH a few days later.
In a team meeting I was once asked why I carried it all the time, my boss cracked up laughing and said "He's a Brit and the knife has a corkscrew"
Apparently, your average caring-sharing new-Brit male now carries a small shoulder bag containing skin-softners and make-up........

The UK goverment's advice need to carry a corkscrew at all times has been obviated by the introduction of Swiss and French cheap wine becoming available in screw-top bottles.

Ooh, and vodka, can't forget vodka.
Spoiler:
Yeah, best blame the Russians, which would let the French and Swiss off the hook, after all they more than make up for it with their cheeses, n'est-pas?

D'accord BB, but nothing beats a well matured Brie with some vinho-verde on a hot summer's day.

ASDA have banned the sales of single knives, that should fix it.

Single kitchen knives are the most frequently stolen knives, Asda said, prompting the decision to stop their sale by the end of April.
Does this mean 'ard nuts will be seen down the pub trying to sell one of a set?

When we recently went for our citizenship interview, I deliberately left my Swiss Champ knife at home. When we went through security at USCIS they asked my wife if she had a knife in her bag. She embarrassingly said she'd forgot all about it and retrieved a small swiss army knife (about 2 inches long) from the bag.

The security guy said "No. The other one" and pulled something similar to this one out. She had to take them both back to the car.

I carry the 4" version of this on my belt and use it at work every day, only taking the Swiss Army knife out of my pocket when I need it. This big 6" one, however, is just too awkward to carry and too impractical to justify, being 13" long when opened, but it does make a hell of a letter opener.

Times have changed. In my brief sojourn with the Scouts, I got my Hand, Axe and Knife badge so I could carry my little armoury with me.
On my belt I wore a bone-handled hunting knife, a hatchet at the back and a Finnish skinning knife...... plus a Spanish army knife on a lanyard (Think Swiss, but green).
Aged 12, I walked 2 miles into town and back for meeting - and I didn't feel worried (an't think why!)
Nostalgia isn't what it was.........

In Canada if you became a Queen's Scout they gave you a hunting knife. One of our guys tried to hold up a gas station with his..... We took our .22 rifles to camp with us and hunted rabbits, and everybody got their shooting badges. It might not fly nowadays.
