Hidden away in the budget was the fact that the government is scrapping the 15 years limitation to vote in UK elections. I know this has been promised before but now it seems it's close to happening.

I was not aware of Shindler and Maclennan beforehand, but the timing of the appeal and refusals must beg some questions.
Also this appears to be a considerable shift from figures previously published.
Recent estimates of the number of British citizens living abroad have put the number at around 5 million

Do they reckon that expats will mostly vote Tory?
