C'mon Ami .... Stay with it !
20.000 pick strawberries and the other 2.980.000 live of ''freebies'' so the solution is Brexit.
Do I have to add ?

Most arguments here seem to suggest the imaginary immigration crisis is the result of millions of desperate Europeans coming to the UK to live 10 in a flat and pick fruit for what they consider to be a fortune in pay.

But as it turns out, it's only about 20000. Are all the rest Turkish then?

I guess not, because apparently there's 79 million of them, not 3 million. That does sound like an "immigration crisis" though. I wonder why they're not mentioning the 79 million Turks anymore? I reckon they're not very good at picking fruit.

There is a Turkish gentleman selling Turkish Delight near where my son lives in Portsmouth. Does that count?

So how is that any different from now?

All that changes is that these EU workers will then need work permits of whatever label those will be given, and employers will likely need to register with whatever scheme is used. Both will have costs to the worker and farmer.

I suspect some of these workers will instead merely find another farm in an EU member state to work on, where they won't needed to apply for a visa. No expense, and no waiting on a visa application.

.

It isn't different. It just makes people feel better to jump up and down and say we're following "our own rules".

There's a SUPERB kebab place down the road from the Queens Hotel in Southsea. As you look at it, down the left on the lefthand side a few hundred yards. I'm assuming given that he's university age and male and studying that he's in there regularly, or at least should be.

Thanks, I'll point him in the right direction. He lives in unfashionable Fratton rather than Southsea, since the rents are a lot lower so he may not have seen that one. So far, he's only had food poisoning twice (because he will insist on ignoring his mother's advice about confused origins, so "Ken's Italian Pizza and Cheesy Chips" or "The Kebab and Pizza House" or my personal favourite "Wok's Wong") so he should be ready to try something new.

He's probably got all sorts of diseases living in Fratton, but I hope not.

Anyway, the kebab shop mentioned is near the Queen's hotel - next time you're there get him to take you there (you might have to pay) for Sunday lunch, it used to be very, very lovely.

You know that Ken's kebab is famous now as a meme?

Wok's Wong doesn't have a great reputation as Chinese go - but they are cheap.

I didn't know about Ken. To my eye, Ken is stuck in 1974 and not in a good way.

I don't think he's been into Wok's Wong - he's been giggling too much at the name to actually go in.

Very true Eric, however as mentioned before, the financial elites love a bit of mass migration to keep their labour costs down and ramp asset values, so it will take a socialist revolution post-Brexit to really push us towards a high-wage technologically-driven nirvana. #LEXIT

Sounds ominous. Good job that never happened then.
