Not really - I just think she's attracted far more by way of harsh criticism (and worse) than anything she's ever said or done warrants.

At this late stage, I doubt it'll make a jot of difference either way - Labour are still hugely unlikely to pull off a win out of this but that's nothing to do with Abbott, in my opinion. She's just the prime target of abuse from idiots who can't be bothered to look beyond the headlines other than to hang about in the online equivalent of playground bully gangs.

Who knows the truth behind what's going on with her at the moment and who's responsible, anyway?

Not doing too badly in the polls are they.
Without the UKIP vote the election result will have been very different for the Tories.

LibDem leader Charles Kennedy had the same signs--before he resigned.
I hadn't thought of that but it's possible - Anna Soubry is definitely overdoing the sauce and there are probably many more of them.

I think the idiot in this room is Abbott

I agree that it is very late to sack her for incompetence but better late than never eh?

The criticism levelled at Corbin has been unfair at times - that at Abbott 100% justified.

Not temporary now, she has been replaced on the grounds of 'ill health', good move by Corbyn, she has been a liability recently

No matter what, any outcome will fail to be "good". Britain is headed for serious problems, and neither party has exhibited much acknowledgement of that. Whoever wins a majority (or none at all) is looking at an astronomically tumultuous time in office, and will be the subject of constant scrutiny and dissent as Britain enters a period of politico-economic downsizing. Nobody's going to be happy, whatever their stripes.

U.K. Election Winner Saddled With a Lousy Economic Outlook - Bloomberg

June 8 vote comes as headwinds challenge British economy. Victor faces slow growth, stagnating wages, weak productivity

It’s not exactly a glittering economic prize for the winner of this week’s election: slower growth, tepid wage gains, a depressed currency and a productivity problem that’s plagued governments for years.

Those challenges are compounding the disruption that Brexit is heaping on the economy, from faster inflation to concern about future trading arrangements. The Bloomberg Brexit Barometer has fallen in the past six weeks and is now in “windy” territory. Here’s what the victor of the June 8 vote will have to contend with in the coming years.

It's almost as if Theresa May has decided to lose this election so that the Tories can come in at the next election saying the Labour made a mess of Brexit negotiations.

I tend to think it is more a case of May doing a Clinton - assuming she had a divine right to win and not campaigning well enough.

Interesting. I had a similar thought in 2010...

If DC hadn't been so power hungry, it would have been a better long term strategy (from a Tory perspective), to sit back and allow a Lib-Lab coalition to deal with the deficit.

The Abbot we have seen recently is not the same woman who was a regular fixture on the Andrew Neil Thursday evening politics prog.
There is clearly something either physically or mentally wrong with her.

Yes - I agree. I think it should have been spotted and dealt with sooner.

Election 2017: Abbott says she will 'rejoin fray soon' after standing aside as shadow home secretary over illness – politics live

If she has an illness she had had it for decades.

It could be a simple as a nervous breakdown.

Some of the crap aimed at her in recent weeks by the media has been excessive, and until politics becomes less abusive, you won't find many ordinary people actually wanting to run for MP. Yet these ordinary people are the ones we need to help change the system.

There is nothing ordinary about Diane, classic example of everything that disgust most people about politics. And nothing new.

You obviously have not seen her week after week debating with Portillo, commenting on UK politics.
You appear to know very little about the UK political scene.
