Tories in chaos

Oh how nice it is to be high and mighty and always right especially when the scoundrel is at the opposite end of the political spectrum.
The real issue here isn't whether he drove across country when his government suggested that people shouldn't do it, it's all about judgement and the reasoning behind the judgement and what'll happen next.
I suspect that a great many travelled across country but most aren't in a position to advise the PM, but still they like to moan and this is a story where most'll simply shake their heads and turn the page.
So why do it? Family ties? A feeling that rules were for others? Just because he could?
It doesn't matter, he should have realised that others'd be drawn into the media shitstorm once it became public and prancing about in the north would very likely ensure that this happened.
So was it done deliberately?
I doubt it. He probably understood that this was something he wanted to do and as a selfish twat he probably gave curt thought to how the PM and others would react and decided they'd all be able to weather the frenzy until the news cycle killed the story.
And he's right, it'll all be forgotten soon and life will go on, so what does this say about taking those in charge to account?
Not a lot.... but at least he didn't start a war.

It's sad to see so many remainiacs trying to get their own back against the architects of leave, no ability to accept defeat and instead they want to destroy the careers of people they disagree with and lost to.

I reckon if the Tories and leave camp in general hadn't based their entire platform on egregious misrepresentation, misinformation, and downright porkies, and still proceed to do same, day after day, that maybe some might have some sympathy. But I think that's pretty much dried up and credibility is pretty well shot by now.

I don't recall anyone voting for Cummings, but I could be wrong.

I don't think Demonic needs any help destroying his career - he's doing fine on his own.

Absolutely.
Nothing to do with double standards; covering up where they went; lying about the reason; not coming clean about doing it more than once; saying nothing about having taken a secondary, rule breaking trip once there; lying about police involvement.
That one can think nothing of this is just an indication of how low standards have dropped.

Cummings is being castigated because other ministers and advisors who've broken lockdown rules in England and Scotland have been sacked or resigned from their positions for far less. Cummings drove his Coronavirus-infected wife 260+ miles with their child, yet his wife published an article stating their child was 'administering Ribena'. It's very likely the prolonged car journey with his wife contributed to his subsequent illness.
It's around a 5hr journey, and I doubt a 4yr old child would make that non-stop, and I wouldn't try driving it in one hit, let alone with an ill passenger, so there's a likelihood of transmission wherever they'd stopped. And had they broke down or had an accident, they'd have been putting other at great risk as well.
The advice was, if you or a family member have symptoms, isolate at home.. Which does not reasonably suggest that they drive 260+ miles to do so. Again, Cummings broke the rules in place at the time, and as others have been sanctioned for doing so, he must resign or be fired.
Had he admitted he made a mistake in making that journey, and apologised, he'd have had more sympathy. But that's not the choice he and the PM made.

You can't "lose to" people who weren't running. Cummings wasn't a candidate for anything hence nobody voted for or against him and didn't win or lose. Nor can you make everything an argument about Brexit, however hard you try. You need some new material.
Anyway, it's moot. In this "people's parliament" the people have to follow the rules but Boris' mates do not. The contempt is so great that they just "explain" to us that it was all ok. They will lie, twist, and fabricate and none of it matters to them because the gen pub just isn't worthy of any kind of respect. Boris has plenty of form here, and the government seems to have confused itself with Pop and is being run as a sixth form club.
