I posted the following on another forum earlier today (before the Johnson statement) and nothing has changed

At a time when good government is required to overcome the self-inflicted wounds of Brexit and the chaos of Covid, what we have are a bunch of apparatchiks who have taken the opportunity to climb the greasy pole offered to those with no moral fibre, putting questionable policy before parliament. What we have is a Home Secretary who appears to be looking to extend her powers to impose fascistic controls on the electorate, what we have is a government seeking to remove, or limit, the powers of the judiciary or of judicial committees to hold them to account or to challenge their decisions.....
Lord help us survive until the next election with any form of democracy left in place.......
I have little faith in the inexecrable choices of the British (well, English) electorate and absolutely none in the gerrymandered broken electoral system, but I have faith in the historic proclivity of the Tory party to stab its own leaders in the back.....
To be PM, Johnson must remain leader of the party - and if he does not, the whole house of cards will topple as all members of the government share only the talent of doing his bidding. So, uncomfortable as it makes me, I hope the Tory grandees dispatch the lying toad to the backbenches (or beyond)."

I don't think I'm saying anything revolutionary, but I really do despair of the obvious (to me) mind games being played - and fearful of the VERY dangerous advisors, who are almost certainly guiding all this.As a psych, I know that it is not rocket science to exploit the suggestibility of the people - at a very general level, this is what all populists do and it is what conmen rely upon - but there are tweaks, there are distractions, there are defences, there are ongoing behaviours which can increase this to an extraordinary level..... and I sense that some of these are being used today. The continual mantra-like three-word catchphrases, the non-answers used to press key points, the non-apologies and other commonly observed behaviours amongst the cabinet have been schooled into them..... and are used to develop an aura of capability or invulnerability that does not exist in reality.

The NHS and adult social care now under such pressure that hotels have been contracted to provide accommodation from people who should be in care homes or receiving care in their own homes, to relieve pressure on hospital beds - and British nationals living in Spain and Greece have had to be flown in to provide care for them (because EU or non EU nationals wouldn't qualify for visas to do this type of work as it is not paid enough). As the article points out, hotels do not have adequate facilites for this type of care - they don't have sluice rooms, for example. And would there be secure storage for medications, and qualified personnel to administer them? The system is really falling apart.

I have just heard the thinking man's idiot Raab insisting to ITV GMT that the government "DO have a plan" and the plan is to get x people vaccinated.....
There's the root of the problem That is not a plan, it is a desire, an aim, a target....... a plan is what it takes to get there. This requires there to be enough vaccine, enough people to give the vaccine, enough hours in the day, etc., etc. The first is a sound bite, the second takes hard work....

Boris isnt helping much with North Shropshire where the election looks to be on a knife edge. Shastri Hurst says he will never take a second job if elected. Quite a promise for a medical barrister to make. Labour might have left the seat uncontested. They could never hope to win the seat in a normal election.

Marcus Fish appears to have a few strange ideas. Even Raab thought he went too far with his Nazi vaccine passport theories.I hadnt realized that the Third Riech ever issued vaccine passports.

One was continually referring to a "Covid ID Card" and saying it would lead to the police demanding your ID in the UK (so what?) - AND claiming that the police in Portugal are going to restaurants and demanding to see people's Covid passes, which AFAIK is a total fabrication - in Portugal you can't enter a restaurant without a Covid cert, the staff check it, the police have nothing to do with it. I'm left imagining those thuggish, jackbooted Portuguese police demanding your pass, not speaking English (shock, horror) and banging up innocent British Covid spreaders for just doing what they'd do back home!!! Another was wittering on about the Covid Pass being against Human Rights.....
They'll see Boris lie to Parliament, but my God, suggest that they might actually have to prove who they are and the world comes to an end.
