SHAMIMA Begum's return to the UK has been put on hold after the UK Government won it's fight to take its case to the Supreme Court.

Begs the question how she could get back, I think she used Easyjet to get out there?

There is literally no way I can imagine she would be able to legally reach the UK from her current location in Syria. She isn't entitled to humanitarian passage as a refugee on a UN flight and the likes of Turkey will not let her enter their territory.

Not unless she robs one or buys a fishing boat. There aren't many British ferry or cruise liner companies offering holidays in Aleppo.

She's not a migrant though really. It's weird, she's living in a refugee camp right now but she isn't really a refugee. IMHO they should have just forced her to go back to Bangladesh.

Has she ever been to Bangladesh?
Can you outline how you would put this plan in to action? She doesn't have a Bangladesh passport and they deny she is entitled to one. I suppose you could throw her out of the doors of a helicopter over Cox's Bazar.

She can't go "back" to a country she has never left - that's the whole point - she was born in the UK and has never lived in Bangladesh. There's also nothing "weird" in her situation, unless you willfully choose to ignore the truth of the situation. Firstly, she is not in a "refugee camp" but in Al Roj, a camp for female ex-supporters of the Islamic State run by Syrian rebels - and she will not be released without another country taking responsibility for her security and welfare. Secondly, as her British nationality by birth has revoked and Bangladesh disagrees with the UKs interpretation of its nationality rules, she is, in practice, stateless and has no passport, papers or representation. The UK has literally dumped it's problem on someone else....

The UK government removed Jack Letts' UK citizenship and if he is ever released from detention then he will likely need to return to Canada even though IIRC he has barely ever spent any time there.

The fact that his other nationality was from a 'preferred' country shouldn't really make any difference.

"Barely ever" is not the same as none..... and, last time I looked, they speak English in Canada and there is no death penalty. I agree that it is yet another example of the UK dumping its problem on someone else, but Canada also seems to have accepted that he holds Canadian citizenship, which is not the case with Begum.

The truth is that a law designed to remove the status granted to foreign-born nationals convicted of serious crime, has been abused to impact those who are British by birth - and in the case of Begum, neither charged, nor convicted of any crime. It is a piece of legal slight-of-hand, which allows punishment by exile without the right to a trial. Whilst those impacted by this law may not be worthy of great sympathy, the use of such a device is as immoral as the use of legal proceedings to keep the subject in a place of danger.... where there is some likelihood that their demise will see an end to the matter.

Can you actually claim that anything she, personally, may have done is worse than the actions of the three "teenagers" jailed for the unlawful killing of PC Andrew Harper? Disgust at the heinous actions of daesh and the fact that she chose to live in their "caliphate" are not excuses for the punishment of an individual without trial.

Should she be forced to go to a country where the population is predominantly brown?

Personally I couldn't give a toss if they were predominately Martian, I just don't want her back in the UK ever again.

And many/most agree with you. Put it to the vote?

I think there are more important things about which we could exercise democracy in the UK right now rather than the fate of some idiot.
