I'm betting none but the question is irrelevant.

Natural-born US citizens cannot be deprived of their citizenship thanks to the 14th Amendment but I'm not sure that's particularly relevant to a discussion on British and Bangladeshi nationality law.

[QUOTE=BritInParis;12884296]The Home Secretary deprived Begum of her British citizenship; this was upheld by the courts. As for evidence she is a Bangladeshi citizen, start here.[/QUOTESo, a Uk court has to suffer an appeals process, nothing new there.

]if, as you say she is covered as a compulsory citizen by descent, under their laws. seems odd they have denied she is their citizen without a legal context being stated.

What if the UK gov won't fly her back?
How will she get back?
Her parents are still in the UK presumably? I assume they'll try and help her get back.

Her father lives in Bangladesh. Her brother in law was not supportive.

Oh, thanks.
She's ****ed then. She's backed in a corner with virtually no options.
I wonder who paid for the legal challenge to get this overturned.

Who the **** do you think paid for it? The UK taxpayer most likely.

I wondered if that or a charity of some kind, or even the parents.

Whatever the outcome, the video I watched the other day she was trying to show she was sorry for the decision but she was apologising to nobody. Her remorse appears to be more self-pitying than for anything else.

I don't think she's capable of thinking beyond herself. If she was then she'd accept her fate and wouldn't be trying to overturn the UK government's position in the first place.

All we have are statements from the Bangladeshi foreign minister saying she’s not wanted by Bangladesh and won’t be permitted to enter the country. This is not unreasonable - HMG doesn’t want her either - but it rather undermines their claim that she is not a citizen.

She is in receipt of Legal Aid so, yes, it’s UK taxpayers.

I bet that wasn't an easy decision for the Legal Aid folks to make.

I doubt they had much choice in the matter.

Jesus though, talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill. Can't the government just bung Bangladesh a few quid to take her back? If they could manage to get Jordan to take Abu Hamza back a few years ago then surely this should be easier. As long as they promise not to execute her then there's no legal issue from the UK's perspective right and she's a scumbag so it's not like anybody is really going to give a toss what happens to her when she gets back to Bangladesh anyway.

How on earth is a foreigner in a foreign land entitled to legal aid? Is that the norm?

My understanding is that if she's appealing a decision to revoke her citizenship then she technically isn't a foreigner yet. She's appealing a decision of the UK courts as well so her location may be irrelevant.
