Default Religion, Healthcare & Gov't funds.

Regarding a hospital in Vancouver, Canada.

It's been an ongoing issue for several years now, and puts patients in the middle, forcing them to be transferred to another hospital. Medically assisted death is permitted in Canada, patients who meet the criteria have a legal right to the treatment, but the organization that runs this hospital has consistently refused as they are catholic based organization.

Mind you this isn't a privately funded hospital, they receive a great deal of public funds, and one of the few hospitals still affiliated with religion, its a holdover from the past.

The issue has become hot again locally because they just started construction on a new hospital to replace the current one, the total cost $2.2 billion to build with $1.3 billion of the funding coming from the province using public funds, and operating cost wise the hospital is funded through public funds, its not as if its a private hospital where patients pay the bill, patients go to the hospital, hospital bills the government, the government pays the bill with public funds.
