Sorry, didn't realise you'd need a translation. It's actually that this particular type of footwear was allegedly popular with men of the type you so eloquently describe. Ergo, Trump sporting a pair plays into our perception of his character.
So does that mean that a guy who wears soft soled sued shoes makes a habit of creeping around brothels?

"You might very well think that; I couldn't possibly comment," as Francis Urquhart put it.

Me, the 13th Duke of Wybourne? Here, in a bedroom with the wife of a close friend? At three o'clock in the morning? With my reputation?

I was aware of what co-respondent shoes were supposed to indicate but it was a popular style and not the exclusive domain of adulterers either.

Another style "the Hitler moustache" was also popular at that time. Even Oliver Hardy had one.

This begins to sound like one of those annoying high school statistics problems. "Not all adulterers wear co-respondent shoes; not all people wearing co-respondent shoes are adulterers. But what is the proportion of co-respondent sporting adulterers which would indicate a 95% confidence that the relationship is other than random happenstance? State your assumptions and show your working...."

I'll look up my 118 year old neighbor later this PM. He used to wear co-respondent shoes back in the day and also a Hitler type moustache when that was fashionable. I have strong reason to suspect that he's into cross dressing these days but anyway i'll pass on any info he/she might be able to share on shoes and their wearers of a bygone era.

Is it just me or does anybody else think koop sounds extraordinarily defensive on the subject of co-respondent's shoes?

Thinking back , has he ever divulged his & his companies Tax Returns ?
Wonder what he's hiding

"People in glass houses" comes to mind !!!

I'm probably an out-of-touch elitist liberal, but I find myself liking CNN political coverage more and more. For instance, good article on Trump, Roseanne Barr, and their recent phone conversation.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/29/polit...all/index.html

Last sentence of the article;

"In real life, Barr is also a vocal Trump supporter, though she lives on a macadamia nut farm in Hawaii and not in Illinois."

It seems Barr is cut of the same cloth that Trump is:

I don't know what happened there. Not that Barr = Conner but in the original run of the show, this is a totally out of character move for Lanford Roseanne. Real Roseanne, well, we can blame the painkillers for the above, probably.

Luckily, even though it was kind of a ham-fisted approach, they got all the election BS out of the way in the first episode to the point where it almost seemed like parody, and the second episode was a return to form.

I still love the show though, she's always been a bit nuts but it's worth watching for John Goodman anyway, who is a god damned national treasure. Not to mention Becky has aged much better than I have, which is worse because she's 5 years older than I am

It is a bit disappointing as I do remember the show Roseanne well, as it was a rare TV show to portray a working class positively.

There are an awful lot of redhats living in the areas of Illinois where Lanford would be though, so perhaps art was imitating life here.

I haven't watched the new series, but the idea that a working class family would be split on who they voted for is a very real phenomena, and I don't think it's one that has really been explored much on TV.

Could it be the Emoluments Clause that takes down Trump? It's not as sexy as Russia, but there's definitely a case to be made.
