President Trump.

Yes, that seems to be a Canadian thing, rates staying unchanged for years. Current NB rates are those of 2013

I was slightly wrong about BC. The rates of $385 for one employable and $507 for two can be increased by $375/$570 for rent whereas the NB rate for 1 employable is $537 and $876 for two, has no extra allowance for rent.
Nevertheless I wonder if that bit extra in BC is an improvement. I'm seeing rooms in houses in Moncton (not rooming houses) all included, advertised for single or couple for $350 to $500 and that might be do-able on $537/$876.
Could that be done in Vancouver on $760 for one and $1075 for two?
As far as I can gather, someone in NB not necessarily work ready may get $643 instead of $537 and that appears to include someone with a disability. So an extra $106. But I do remember reading a case in the paper that there was an annual allowance of $1000 for someone on it. So maybe the equivalent of an extra $200 a month altogether.
It made the news because someone was getting a bit of social assistance and his employment pension. Then one day his pension went up a few $$ and completely cancelled his assistance. He gained about $5 a month but lost the $1000 a year.

BC essentially has 3 levels of assistance
Basic assistance which is the lowest $385 base with $375 for housing, this is also the starting point for disabled applying for PWD.
Persons with multiple barriers get a bit more,$432 + $375 for housing
Persons with disability get the most coming in at $808 with $375 for housng.
These are all the singles rates, add in kids, a spouse and such the rates will go up a bit, all depends on family demographic and status of each adult within the family.
All 3 are payer of last resort and will only provide assistance if you meet certain assets limits and income.
General assistance if considered employable requires an active job search, going to job search groups and other programs the ministry deems appropriate to maintain assistance.
Persons with multiple barriers generally have the employment requirement waived.
Those with PWD status can also earn up to 12,000 a year on top of their PWD assistance if they can work, but they are not obligated to work but once they hit 12,000 earned income, their PWD is deducted dollar for dollar.
And to DC in regards to the Liberal Party of Canada aka as currently party governing with Tredeau, he and his party are not that far left, that would be NDP who has never formed federal government, Liberal Party is more centrist to slightly left.

Martin Luther King Jr annual prayer breakfast, which is being held to raise money for university scholarships:
https://wtov9.com/news/local/martin-...ayer-breakfast
The prayer breakfast is being held for "Honoring, remembering and educating. Honoring the legacy of Dr. King. Remembering all of the things he stood for and what the civil rights movement accomplished for so many citizens in our country."
Just one of about a zillion prayer breakfasts I found just for honouring Dr King.
As well, they are also in Australia. There was one recently in Western Australia with a theme of gender equality.
I wonder if some posters on here will ever acknowledge or reflect on their own prejudices?

Explain why anyone's comments on prayer breakfasts (or anything else if it comes to that) are "prejudices" while your opinions are not? You are generally among the first to here to attack and attempt to ridicule those whose opinions are different from yours.
One might almost say you should look at the beam in your own eye before worrying about the mote in the eyes of others.

Moneypenny20 very clearly asked what were prayer breakfasts all about. I posted about a series of them and their objectives that didn't conform with your expectations.

I've often wondered how American "evangelicals" could be so ideologically at odds with the comparatively liberal doctrines of both Catholic and Protestant church.
Dr King was a preacher and the whole Civil Rights Movement had the churches as their power base.
"Christian Right" is a much better term, for what you are describing. They are far from the only ones who hold prayer breakfasts.
