Given that the game is rigged, bought and paid for, and we only have a viable choice between the worst and the lesser of evils, I would give Sanders a shot, after I hear a gloves off, no holds barred, real debate with Trump about where he will take the US.

Who do you suggest and why?

Bernie. He's authentic, has deep experience and would build on Obama's reforms. But I don't have a general cynicism about the candidates.

Still thinking about it.
Acceptability IMO is One: a non-Evangelical. Religion or religious beliefs don't belong or should play no part in politics in a modern democracy.

Two: Holding centrist views. Not beholden to far right or far left beliefs

Three: Someone who does not involve America in foreign wars unless those wars actually seriously threaten America's security or interests

Four: Someone who is not blinded by so much hate that a health program called Obamacare by some is not on the "Get rid of it ASAP" agenda. Fine tune where needed... yes, if necessary

Do any of the GOP candidates come anywhere near that category? Nope

The US and the rest of the world are only doomed if the voters apathetically accept the inevitability of the apocalyptic mind set. Often, things have to get worse before they get better, but once people wake up and fully participate in their political future, things can be reversed, but only if the garrison, nation builders and war profiteers are given an enforceable ultimatum to cease and desist. When people mobilize and refuse to be taken for granted, many things are possible.

If Trump wins, maybe he will turn it into a 4 year reality show on some cable network...

Seems to be a case of the two least worst options.

Does this Saunders guy hang out a little to far to the left to be a viable option for US tastes ?

I would've thought Bernie is too left for American tastes, and frankly, little of his manifesto can possibly appeal to the right-leaning. Nonetheless, I would've thought Trump would be a bit OTT for most middle or certainly left-leaning American voters.

Yet at this moment, it seems it might actually be possible that it could come down to a race between Bernie and the Donald, which of course would be a very interesting and frankly, worrying circumstance.

In that circumstance, I would predict Trump as the voter's choice of the "lesser of the two evils". Bernie is much too easy to frame as "the biggest threat to all things American" whilst Trump, well, he could sell sand to a Bedouin.

Finally, another good old American presidential campaign resembling competing used-car dealerships. Should be entertaining at least.
