Yes, medical as well.

Not universally yet, of course, but it's been under way for some long time and it's accelerated in recent years.

How is the NHS being Privatised?

I agree with my wife that America is one of the worse countries in the western world to be poor and sick.
The average American or just those with poor or no insurance?

My recent experience of waiting 6 weeks to see a UK Dr who will then futz around for weeks avoiding the MRI I will need, does not compare well with my experience in the US.

Most people when dying are of an age where they are getting Medicare - the socialised system.

At the end of the day, providing some NHS services via private providers does not necessarily mean it won't be free at the point of use. Personally I think that some form of payments via co-pays etc are essential for the future of the NHS to dissuade frivolous use.

"free at point of delivery " is not something unique to Britain. In all my years in Germany and Spain, I've never, ever paid one cent at point of delivery.

The difference is that I pay for health insurance separately. Brits also pay for it, but it's hidden in the tax maze, so naturally, people believe it's "free", and therefore assume they can use it like other stuff that's "free". Like the "free" iPhone you get with tour 50£ per month phone contract.

There is no such thing as "free" healthcare. Anywhere.

Today as we all should be aware ,a celebration will take place, because off the start off the fight back against Germany's attempt @ dominating the free world.
The most powerful country in the world was the leader in this fight !

BUT , also today 75 years later, a much more powerful threat is growing at a rapid rate , which is predicted by the experts to destroy life on Earth as we know it now
& unless we all step up & cooperate internationally against it, it will take place for sure, it's commonly called "Climate Change"
One must ask , where is the most powerful country on our planet leadership in this fight back ?

Well the so called President & so called Leader off the Free World , is sitting on his tiny hands & calling it all a "Hoax perpetrated by China"
As a Politician said yesterday "when your dealing with somebody who has the mentality off a 11 year old , what do you expect"
He is either the most stupid "mother ducker" ever born ,or bent as a "nine bob note" & looking forward to his retirement from his present job, so he can get his grubby
hands on the "presents" the "special interest groups & lobbyist" have been salting away on his behalf ,all tax free!.
One wonders if he will share out his "new found wealth" with the old white men who make up The GOP
There must be a reason there so silent over this subject !

My American friends are applauding Queen Elizabeth right now for giving Trump a kick up the pants with her 'gift' to him. A book on WW2 ( maybe a significant one, as it looked a little care worn.) As a draft dodging weasel , should cause a little pinkness around the gills

The Irish will be delighted right now. He is going to play golf over there on Thursday and has rented four limo's for an eye watering amount ( in the millions ) He has booked them from a firm of funeral directors , whose office address is a terraced house in a quite run down area. Noone knows why he has done it ,as he won't use them.He will be flying in and out by helicopter. Decoys ? Ah well its just another enormous bill for the US tax payer

CB, we have enough problems of our own without comparative moralising about US healthcare. If the NHS has it's root system poisoned by profit seeking providers, IMO the quality of whatever care is available suffers, rationed by time or not.

The PFI program is hardly anything to crow about is it..
The exorbitant prices charged for drugs which local health trusts cannot afford , denying patients in desperate need.
Is this t you mean,t. ?

I never mentioned PFI.

So who supplies the NHS, has it all been internal, who builds hospitals, are they all direct employees of the NHS?

Are drugs all developed and manufactured internally?

Nothing to stop anyone who thinks private healthcare is better from purchasing it in the UK.

There doesn't seem to be much available on the scale of "frivolous" use but if it really is a problem, maybe education is the answer rather than a blanket charge which is most likely to deter those who both most need attention and can least afford to pay.
