Undoubtedly a change for the worse. Do you suppose the things Trump is espousing will make the US or the world a better place. The US throwing it's weight around to an even greater extent. USA, USA. f### yeah

No he isn't. He's just a loud-mouthed narcissist. Both he and all other candidates represent the status quo whereby the country is run based on the monetary interests and influence of international business and the private interests of the few.

Nope. mfesharne has probably been in countries and places where it's only sensible to do what he does. So have I and so do I. I also walk in the middle of the road late at night, in places I'm not entirely certain about. Caution is not the same as paranoia.
Bloody right I have........ & as I said, it's like riding a bike.

Aren't we supposed to be intelligent creatures who adapt to our environment? You live in a safe country now - denying yourself the opportunity to behave like a normal human being in a very peaceful, relaxed, laid-back country seems absurd.

What do you do about going to the cinema, a concert, a sports event, a stroll through town? Do you park your car as near as possible to the supermarket entrance, wriggle in on your belly, grab a basket and go round the outside only with your back to the shelves, snatching random items off them as you go?

The most worry people have got here about which way their back's turned is if they're about to sit down outside a cafe and they'll have their back to one of the other customers. A lot of them will still apologise profusely for that in advance of sitting down.

No, I don't do those things but I do sit with my back to the wall in a public place, usually park my car so it can be driven straight out & I am always on what is sometimes referred to as on 'amber alert' or situationally aware in public places.

sure Portugal is a lot safer than most (probably all) of the other places I've been to but bad things can happen to anyone at any time in any place and when it does, those people are called 'victims'. - And you can be pretty sure that when they happened, pretty much none of those victims were expecting the bad thing to happen.

It's not something you can switch off it's just the way things are & I doubt I'll ever get out of that mindset.

It really depends where you are. After a couple of years in Warsaw, Prague, Katowice, Bratislava, Rome and seeing muggings almost daily. I might add having been done once and my wife too, it comes naturally. Now I am always aware of who is around me.

Distinct change off reporting by NYT, it seems the Public Editor finally got fed up with trying to make Dumpt look a reasonable human being

New York Times decides to call a lie a lie, and its Trump coverage may never be the same

Just because he is a counter balance does not make him right or good.

Things getting better? The economy has been doing quite well the last eight years so maybe the current way of doing things is not that bad.

Why do people use the economy as the sole indicator of whether things are getting better?

What about the quality of life of the population? Has that that got better? What about social cohesion? Has that improved? And even with the economy doing well - has that really translated to "things getting better" evenly across the population or have some people got even wealthier while others have got even poorer? Is the US population in better control of their destiny than they were say 30 years ago? Are they happier?

Instead off trying to blame the Obama Administration for lack off progress , You would be a lot better off checking out how the GOP controlled Congress has stymied any forward movement to help the "people" the Administration has tried to put in place.

S Court 1 Justice short = refuse to give Garland a hearing
Planed Parenthood = Woman's Health - doing there level best to defund it
The Toxic Water Crisis = Trying to get EPA to deny it exist
Exoon = Known since the 70's that dirty fuel accelerates climate warming, at last this being investigated , but the GOP are doing there level best to get this stooped.
Why don't some off you RW twats get your head out off your arse's & try to understand that all the GOP cares about is Tax Cuts for the wealthy & there share dividends keep increasing , they don't give a -uck about Joe Public
And more importantly they care about keeping the 1% happy who have had them bought & paid for ,for years.

You have to ununderstand that even though there is a Democrat President power still resides in the senate and house.
The Republicans can block and delay and bill they do not approve of.
They can and have effectively shut down public services when it suits.
Lack of social progress can be blamed on the Republicans who regard anything like that as " socialism ".
