The thread is entitled "President Biden".
Being a president's a crap job he's got but somebody's got to do it, and following the waste of space that preceded him, the job just got a great deal harder.
So, you're sitting at the Resolute desk, you realise what must be done and the world about you does nothing but place obstructions where, in more settled times few existed, he must think he's in a madhouse.. which he probably is.
Among the problems piling up on his desk are the obvious implications of prosecuting his predecessor.
In many ways impeachment has become a distraction from the major business of the day, but it's one that'll shortly monopolise news media, gum up the works and polarise opinion even more, if that's at all possible. It's something he could have done without.
But what do you do when faced with the events of 6 January and a GOP that refuses to face reality?
It makes for good TV and no doubt the inevitable TV series will gather awards, but this isn't TV it's an example of a system that's become unfit for purpose.
This is only day 7 of his administration and impeachment is already out of his control, it's being propelled forwards by a congress that really wants a second bite of the cherry and more purposefully wants to put GOP senators on the spot and Trump in the dock.
In another country at another time he'd no doubt have been able to make offers that none would refuse, but this is the US of today, where the lunatics have taken over the asylum.
It's an example of a tragedy that would have had Shakespeare reaching for quill and parchment, and when he'd finished would he have tossed the manuscript in the bin sighing, "Nobody will ever believe it" or would he have kept it thinking 'That's a fitting title'?

Oooof. A bit worried at the moment. Dem. Senator Leahy, 80 years old, was taken to the hospital today. If he does not recover, the Republican Governor of Vermont will no doubt appoint a Republican to fill his seat and..ugh..back to Mitch arsewipe in charge of the Senate. Cross your fingers that he makes a full recovery folks.

Downside to having older leaders and the current senate situation.
Hopefully he survives and can continue, but at 80 he is on borrowed time, more borrowed time than younger people would be.

Hope Senator Leahy makes a full recovery from whatever ails him.

Doesn't sound like he's too badly off.
After all these years in the saddle, I bet he'll raise hell and high water to come back and not be the one who loses the Senate majority.

Federal Government already has some mandatory retirement laws in place, pilots have to retire at 65, Air traffic controllers have to retire at 55 or 60, but younger than pilots do, a couple I can think of off the top of my head, so why not have mandatory retirement for those making the rules? 75 seems logical. Canada has mandatory retirement of 75 for federally appointed judges.
